MARKET TRENDS :: TENDANCES DU MARCHÉ 27
Cédric Rivoire-Perrochat
Managing Director of CLIA France
(Cruise Lines International Association)
How is your industry
doing in 2014?
2014 remains a dynamic year
for the cruise market in France,
the growth of which will be
positive again this year. The
departure capacity increase
in French ports as well as the
arrival of new operators within
CLIA France will allow the
development of sales on all
types of cruises.
What are the two
or three major
challenges you face?
Despite major campaigns of
communication leading to a
change of the image of our
industry, the cruise’s rate of
penetration (0.8%) must still
be improved. To do so, one of
our biggest challenges ahead
is the training of travel agents
on the variety of cruises and
product sale, as soon as early
2015.
How do you see your
industry developing in
the next five years?
In 2013, the French market
has surpassed for the first
time the symbolic milestone
of half a million passengers,
becoming the 4 th European
source market. The cruise is
more and more becoming one
of the favorite holiday formulas
of French people, with an
ever-growing satisfaction rate.
A wider offer both in river and
sea cruises will allow the
French market to double in the
next five years.
(...) ONE OF
OUR BIGGEST
CHALLENGES
AHEAD IS THE
TRAINING OF
TRAVEL AGENTS
ON THE VARIETY
OF CRUISES AND
PRODUCT SALE, AS
SOON AS EARLY
2015.
Comment se comporte votre
secteur d’activité en 2014 ?
2014 reste une année
dynamique pour le marché
de la croisière en France,
dont la croissance sera
de nouveau positive.
L’augmentation des capacités
au départ des ports français
ainsi que l’arrivée de
nouveaux opérateurs au sein
de CLIA France permettent
de développer les ventes sur
tous les types de croisières.
Quels sont les deux ou trois
défis majeurs auxquels vous
êtes confrontés ?
Malgré d’importantes
campagnes de
communication qui ont
permis de changer l’image
de notre industrie, le taux de
pénétration de la croisière
(0,8%) doit encore être
amélioré. Pour ce faire,
l’un de nos plus gros défis
à venir est la formation des
agents de voyages à toute la
diversité de la croisière et à
la vente du produit, dès le
début 2015.
Comment voyez-vous votre
secteur dans les cinq ans
qui viennent ?
En 2013, le marché français
a dépassé pour la première
fois le cap symbolique du
demi-million de passagers,
devenant le 4 ème marché
source européen. La croisière
s’ancre de plus en plus dans
les formules de vacances
préférées des français, avec
un taux de satisfaction
toujours plus élevé. Une offre
plus large tant en croisières
maritimes que fluviales
permettra au marché
français de doubler dans les
cinq prochaines années.
