travel / NOSY ANKAO Cap au nord-est de Madagascar où fleurit le sublime archipel composé de cinq îles, nommé: Nosy Ankao. Si nosy signifie île, ankao se traduit par l’adverbe de lieu «à côté» ou proche. Ces îles sont d’une exceptionnelle beauté et la plus grande s’étend sur 15000ha, un endroit reculé de la planète. Le décor isolé renferme un riche écosystème, le récif qui l’entoure offre la possibilité de plongée ou de kitesurf. Vous pouvez également observer les lémuriens, les tortues et les baleines en saison. Enfin, ne ratez pas les couchers de soleil sur l’océan Indien, impressionnants. Entre les mois de mai et juillet, observez la colonie saisonnière de sternes qui nichent sur l’île inhabitée voisine de Nosy Manampaho, période qui correspond à l’observation des baleines à bosse. Les visiteurs rejoignent cette île sanctuaire en hélicoptère depuis Nosy Be (une heure) ou Antsiranana (30mn). Off the north-east coast of Madagascar lies a stunning archipelago of five islands named Nosy Ankao. While nosy means ‘island’, ankao can be translated as ‘next to’ or ‘close to’. Visitors can fly to the island sanctuary by helicopter from Nosy Be, a one hour flight, or from Antsiranana, a half hour flight.
