All my commitment forGolf Club MonticelloMarco Polli is the president of the company FratelliPolli Spa and he is the fifth generation of afamily who operates in the field of the vegetalpreserves. On this occasion, anyway, we methim to talk of his passion: golf. Now he is president of the Golf Club Monticello, one of the historical club in the provinceof Como, this club is different fromsome other golf clubs. Why?«Monticello is unusual because it developed, since the beginning, as a district. Most of themembers owns a house inside the property andit means to feel a sense of affiliation that goesbeyond the simple membership».Italian young golfers are growing and theyare becoming important at internationallevel. What is the place reserved to youngpeople at the Club Monticello?«Monticello always gave lot of importance toyoung people, it also guested the “Eagle GolfAcademy”, with 180 members, which has a fundamentalrole in the golf training, also thanksto the presence of professionals, as Alberto Binaghi, coach of the Italian national team andcoach of Matteo Manassero».Golf and tourism. A combination to investin. What is the connection of a “close” structureas the one of Monticello with tourism?«Monticello was born and developed aroundthe property of real estate, but it’s some yearswe opened to the outside, to give future to theclub, to give continuity and to grow. This is thepremise to find a connection with tourism, becausethe goal is not just to have new members, but also to open to guest players».Como is a candidate to become seat of theIGTM (International Golf Travel Market) in2013. What do you think about it?«It would be a great result for Lake Como, it hasgot what it takes».162
