Sotto, dipinti di Germano BordoliBelow, works of art by Germano BordoliFunny, visionaryand ironic paintingsNearby the historical center of Como we discovered a place that look likeMontmartre, it is the atelier of Germano Bordoli. An open space where youcan breathe artistic creativity and where the painter spends most part ofhis time. This is a lively place: artists, students and friends often meet inthis colorful place, which remind us of the Factory of Andy Warhol. GermanoBordoli was born in Tremezzo but lives in Como. He was a teacherof pictorial techniques at the academy of Fine Arts and Restoration AldoGalli of Como. His paintings have a Renaissance soul which reaches the metaphysicand the surreal art thanks to his technical abilities. What wasthe evolution of your painting during the years?«I like to be defined "a Renaissance soul." I started with the figurative painting, but almost immediately I gave my personal interpretation to reality. The works of art I made had a visionary and unreal dimension. I am an autodidactic,I learned the painting techniques in an empirical way, I neverhad ties and I don’t follow academic rules. For this reason I like to definemyself as a professional “non painter».Are there important artists of the past who influenced your art?«I can say that the person I referred to in my artistic life was Enrico Vannuccini,he is an eclectic artist with lot of interests, he was a painter, a writerand a scientist with a particular vision of life».From portraits of angels to flying books, a technical and visionarytalent. What does inspires you and how do you react in front of awhite canvas?«The colors of the palette conquer me, I have the desire to use them all, Ilove the brush gesture that slips on, these are my moments. I like to experimentdifferent supports to paint, from wood to carton, so I am not tiedup to the usual form, I can also create compositions on round, triangularand oval bases as the portraits of important persons that are exhibitedin Villa Carlotta. I like to tell of surreal stories, with a subject that I repeatfor seven times or multiple of seven, observing and representing it fromdifferent perspectives. My art doesn’t mean to transmit my states of mind, but it is based on playfulness and on irony; in this respect I can also speakof subjects that are considered scabrous without touching the observer».175
