To lead does not imply an isolated work which uses tools such as coercion orsubmission, but a daily group exercise involving information exchange and mutual growth. The leader plays a vital role as an agent to facilitate this process, thus understanding that eachfollower has a particular manner of perceiving his or her environment, and making use of it inorder to take the most suitable decision or to reconduct those who may present somedifficulty. Motivation is another key factor, although it does not depend exclusively on theactions of the leader, who may assist followers in finding reasons to improve theirperformance and fulfill individual needs. By delegating tasks, the leader is able to identifywhether the employee is prepared to engage in more complex activities or he or she needsextra attention for a better performance. Finally, communication must be effective in thisrelation, and the leader is required to analyze the combination of verbal and non-verbalcommunication so that the behavior and the possible growth of subordinates are evaluated.
