CLEAN MOBILITY: Die Strategie
der 180 ACstyria-Partner
Nur wenn heimische Automotive-Betriebe gemeinsam
an Lösungen und Innovationen im Bereich
umweltfreundlicher Technologien arbeiten,
wird sich die Steiermark international als führender
Clean-Mobility-Standort präsentieren können.
Diesem Motto folgend haben sich die rund
180 Partnerbetriebe des Steirischen Autoclusters
ACstyria auf eine gemeinsame Zukunftsstrategie
geeinigt, die drei Schwerpunktthemen umfasst:
ECO-Powertrains, ECO-Materials und ECO-Design
& Smart Production.
Welche Kompetenzen sind im Bereich Clean
Mobility in der Steiermark derzeit bereits vorhanden?
Durch welche Initiativen und Projekte
könnten heimische Klein- und Mittelbetriebe
gezielt unterstützt werden, um grüne Forschung
und Entwicklung stetig voranzutreiben? Drei aktive
Teilnehmer der Strategie berichten über den
Status quo sowie Visionen und Perspektiven für
die kommenden Jahre.
CLEAN MOBILITY: The Strategy
of the 180 ACstyria-Partners
Styria will only be able to present itself as an
internationally leading region in Clean Mobility
when local automotive companies begin to cooperate
on solutions and innovations in the field
of eco-friendly technologies. In keeping with this
motto, around 180 partner companies in the
Styrian ACStyria auto cluster have agreed on a
common strategy for the future that covers three
main topics: ECO-Powertrains, ECO-Materials
and ECO-Design & Smart Production.
Which competences are already available in Styria
in the field of clean mobility? Which initiatives
and projects can help support local small and
mid-sized companies to continue to advance
green research and development? Three active
participants in this strategy report on the status
quo, as well as visions and perspectives for the
coming years.

Jasper Ettema ist seit Februar 2012 Projektleiter im Steirischen
Autocluster ACstyria, zuständig für die Strategie der 180 Partnerunternehmen
unter dem Motto „Green Cars – Clean Mobility“.
Davor war er im Handel und in der Industrie in den Bereichen
Business Development und Marketing Management tätig.
Durch seine berufliche Erfahrung als Unternehmer sowie als
Mitarbeiter in global agierenden Klein- und Mittelunternehmen
kann er die unterschiedlichen Interessen der ACstyria Partnerbetriebe
besonders gut verstehen und die einzelnen Akteure
sinnvoll vernetzen.
Jasper Ettema has been the project manager responsible for the
strategy of the 180 partner companies in the Styrian ACStyria
auto cluster since February 2012 under the motto: « Green Cars
– Clean Mobility«. He worked in retail and industry in the fields
of business development and marketing management before
assuming his current position. His personal experience as an
entrepreneur and as an employee in globally active small and
medium sized companies gives him a particularly good understanding
of the different interests among the ACstyria partner
companies and helps him link the individual partners suitably.

Wolfgang Kriegler leitet die Vorentwicklung bei Magna Steyr.
Er studierte Allgemeinen Maschinenbau an der Technischen
Universität in Wien. Von 1980 bis 2007 war er – mit einer
kurzen Unterbrechung 1982 – bei AVL List Ges.m.b.H. in Graz
angestellt. Seine Hauptbeschäftigungsfelder waren Verbrennungsforschung
und die gesamte Motorenentwicklung, speziell
für LKW-Motoren. Daneben startete er 1990 die ersten
Hybrid- Antriebsstrangentwicklungen bei AVL. Nachdem er einige
leitende Positionen in System Integration, Simulation und
Fahrzeug-Testen innehatte, wechselte er 2007 zur Magna Steyr
und diente als Produktmanager für Hybridfahrzeuge.
Fahrzeugentwicklung und -produktion am Standort Graz/Steiermark
kann nur durch eine stetige Innovationsstrategie gehalten
werden. Fahrzeugkonzepte mit alternativen Antrieben
bieten große Chancen, die Innovationskraft der heimischen
Betriebe hervorzuheben. Elektrofahrzeuge leiden an geringen
Reichweiten und langen Ladezeiten, Brennstoffzellenfahrzeuge
bieten nun die Möglichkeit, emissionsfreie Elektromobilität
für große Reichweiten zu realisieren.
Wolfgang Kriegler is the head of advanced development at
MagnaSteyr. He studied general mechanical engineering at the
Vienna University of Technology. From 1980 to 2007 he worked
for AVL List GmbH in Graz - with a short interval in 1982.
His main areas of work were combustion research and the entire
scope of motor development, especially truck motors. He
also started the first research into hybrid powertrains at AVL in
1990. Afterwards, he held management positions in systems
integration, simulation and vehicle testing before taking a job
at MagnaSteyr in 2007, where he was the product manager for
hybrid vehicles.
Vehicle development and production can only be maintained
at the Graz/Styria location with continuous innovation strategies.
Vehicle concepts with alternative fuel types offer great
opportunities to underscore the innovative strength of Austrian
companies. Electric vehicles suffer from short ranges and
long charging times. Fuel cell vehicles now offer the possibility
of realizing emission-free electromobility for long ranges.

Geschäftsführer,
M&R Automation GmbH
Herbert Ritter ist Geschäftsführer und Mitbegründer der M&R
Automation GmbH sowie Vorstand der M&R Holding AG. Das
1989 gegründete Unternehmen entwickelt individuelle und
kundenspezifische Lösungen für die Automobilindustrie, die
Elektronikindustrie sowie für die Konsumgüterindustrie und die
Medizintechnik. Unter der Leitung von Herbert Ritter ist das Unternehmen
auf derzeit über 300 Mitarbeiter mit einem Umsatz
von 50 Millionen Euro angewachsen. Neben seinen Tätigkeiten
innerhalb der M&R Gruppe ist Herr Ritter Vorstand und Beirat in
mehreren Organisationen und Vereinen.
Für elektrifizierte Antriebsstrang-Komponenten und dazugehörige
Nebenaggregate entwickelt und baut die M&R Automation
GmbH komplette Produktionsstraßen von Laserschweißzellen
über Montagestrecken bis zu End-of-Line- Prüfständen.
Auf Grundlage des bestehenden Produktionstechnologien-Know-hows
werden neue Produkte mitentwickelt und
optimale Anlagenkonzepte erstellt.
Herbert Ritter is the managing director and co-founder of M&R
Automation GmbH, as well as the chairman of the M&R Holding
AG. The company was founded in 1989 and develops individual,
customer-specific solutions for the automotive industry, the
electronic industry, as well as the consumer goods industry and
the medical industry. Under the leadership of Herbert Ritter, the
company has grown to over 300 staff and turnover of 50 million
euros. Aside for his duties within the M&R group, Ritter is also a
member of the board and consultant in many organizations and
associations.
M&R Automation develops complete production lines, from
laser welding cells to assembly lines to End of Line test benches
for electric powertrain components and the corresponding
ancillary devices. New products can be developed and
ideal facility concepts can be created with the existing production
technologies and know-how.
