Franz Stelzer war bis 2011 Vizerektor für Forschung und Technologie
an der TU Graz. Er studierte an der TU Graz Technische Chemie.
Ab 1973 war er Universitätsassistent an der TU Graz. 1975
folgte die Promotion und 1987 seine Habilitation an der TU Graz.
Er absolvierte außerdem mehrere internationale Forschungsaufenthalte.
Von 1991 bis 1994 war er Leiter des Christian-Doppler-
Laboratoriums für Katalytische Polymerisation an der TU Graz.
Seit 1998 ist er Leiter des Institutes für Chemische Technologie
organischer Stoffe – seit 2008 „Chemische Technologie von Materialien“,
2001 folgte die Berufung als Universitätsprofessor für
Chemische Technologie Organischer Stoffe an der TU Graz.
Eine zukünftige umweltschonende nachhaltige Mobilität
wird auf mehrere Säulen setzen müssen. Dabei werden sich
schadstoffreduzierte und verbrauchsarme Verbrennungsmotoren
auf Basis fossiler/biobasierter nachhaltiger Treibstoffe
wohl noch für längere Zeit neben elektrischen Antrieben behaupten.
Für eine „flächendeckende“ Verwendung von elektrischen
Antriebssystemen und die Ablösung von Hybrid-Systemen
ist die Entwicklung verbesserter Speichersysteme eine
Notwendigkeit und daher von vordringlichster Bedeutung.
Franz Stelzer was the vice-rector for research and development
at the TU Graz until 2011. He studied technical chemistry at the
TU Graz, where he became a university assistant in 1973. He
received his doctorate in 1975 and his habilitation followed in
1987. Stelzer also spent time abroad as part of various research
projects. From 1991 to 1994 he was the head of the Christian
Doppler Laboratory for Catalytic Polymerization at the TU Graz
and has been the head of the Institute for the Technology of
Organic Materials, known as the Institute for the Chemistry and
Technology of Materials since 2008. In 2001 he was named
professor for the chemical technology of organic materials at
the TU Graz.
Future sustainable mobility will have to rely on a number of
pillars. Low-emission and consumption combustion engines
on the basis of fossil/bio-based sustainable fuels shall continue
to play a role alongside electrically-powered vehicles
for longer period of time. The “comprehensive” use of electrical
power systems and the replacement of hybrid systems
require the development of improved storage systems that
makes this a key priority.

Robert Schmied ist der Geschäftsführer der e-mobility Graz
GmbH. In dieser Position ist er für die Entwicklung der Modellregion
Graz zuständig. Dies beinhaltet die Schaffung attraktiver
Angebote und der notwendigen Infrastruktur sowie die Bereitstellung
sauberer Energie für den Betrieb der Elektrofahrzeuge.
Er studierte Wirtschaftsingeneurswesen-Maschinenbau an der
TU Graz, mit der vertiefenden Fachrichtung Energietechnik.
Robert Schmied is the managing director of e-mobility GmbH
Graz. In this position he is responsible for the development
of the Graz Model Region. This comprises the creation of appealing
offers and the necessary infrastructure, as well as the
making available of clean energy for the operation of electric
vehicles. He studied industrial engineering and mechanical engineering
at the TU Graz with a specialization in energy technology.
