The first rate screenplay tells the story that is very

both the youth, seniors, and all music lovers.

because both parties wanted to create the final

‘What film are you planning next’? Ian asked
me when we were about to wrap things up. ‘A
story about another great Pole, Mikolaj Kopernik’,
I said. He liked the idea and after a while
he said he could call Brian May, the Queen’s guitarist
and vocalist if I wanted. ‘He’s got a PhD in
astronomy, so he would be perfect for the film.
Perhaps, he might agree to do this’.
When we shook hands at the airport, Ian Gillan
said, ‘You got my respect, Jurek.’

The finale
Four days later in Katowice we were shooting
a part of Deep Purple’s concert. Sally, as always
with a smile, took care of the VIP tickets
and necessary permits. It was All Saints’ Eve. It
crossed my mind that the date might not have
been well picked to draw in a huge audience, as
people leave their homes to visit graves of their
relatives.
And then I saw what Deep Purple was capable
of. The Spodek complex in Katowice,
intended for about ten thousand people, was
bursting at the seams. The extraordinary,
unique concert blew the audience away; whole
families, parents and children were under the
spell of this charismatic group. The band is still
in the top shape. I’m glad that I worked with
Ian Gillan before I saw this concert, otherwise, I
might not find enough courage to meet with this
great performer…
