Hamburg – gateway to the world < NewsThe “Bulcon Continental” service is operated with a totalof four units: the Aleko Konstantinov, 642 TEU, of which50 are reefer connections, max. speed 17 kn, the Geo Milev,642 TEU, with 50 reefer connections, max. speed 17 kn,the Peyo Yavorov, 642 TEU, with 50 reefer connections,max. speed 17 kn, and the Sofia, with 1,022 TEU, of which50 are reefer connections, max. speed 16 kn. The serviceoffers three departures from Hamburg each month. Theduration of the round-trip is 29 days. The “Bulcon Continental“service calls at the following ports: Hamburg, Hull, Rotterdam,Antwerp, Le Havre, Piraeus, Haydarpasa, Ambarli,Thessaloniki, Izmir (acc. to Bulcon schedule, Istanbuland Mersin are included). Der Zentralverbandder deutschen Seehafenbetriebe hat dazu inZusammenarbeit mit dem Bundesverkehrsministeriumund der Bundesagentur für Arbeit eine Qualifizierungsoffensivefür Langzeitarbeitslose gestartet. Die Initiativewurde infolge der Nationalen Maritimen Konferenz 2006entwickelt. Die Bundesregierung stellt für das Projektinsgesamt 80 Millionen Euro zur Verfügung. Zur Umsetzungder Maßnahmen wurde in Hamburg ein „MaritimesCompetenz-Centrum Hafenlogistik“ (ma-co) unter Einbindungder bereits bestehenden Aus- und Fortbildungszentrengegründet. Dadurch werden einheitlicheQualifizierungsstandards in der gesamten Küstenregiongewährleistet. Das Maritime Competenz-Centrum ma-co,ein Zusammenschluss des FZH – FortbilungszentrumHafen Hamburg, der Bremer Hafenfachschule und derFoto: HasenpuschHHLA-Kaifachschule, hat am 1. Januar 2008 die Arbeitaufgenommen. Ein modularisiertes Bildungsangebot bietetverschiedene Qualifizierungswege, zum Beispiel zurFachkraft im Umschlag oder den Kompetenzpass Hafen.Außerdem stehen verschiedene Facharbeiterausbildungenauf dem Plan. Neben der Theorie ist die Praxis inden jeweiligen Seehafenbetrieben ein zentraler Bestandteil.Die Qualifizierungsoffensive richtet sich zu 75 Prozentan Langzeitarbeitslose, davon sind 75 Prozent bis27 Jahre alt. Die Mindestvoraussetzung für eine Teilnahmeist ein Hauptschulabschluss. The initiative wasdeveloped in the wake of the 2006 National MaritimeConference. The federal government supports this projectto the tune of EUR 80 million in total. To implement thenew measures, a so-called Maritime Competence Centre(ma-co) for port logistics will be established in Hamburgwhich will be integrated with the existing training andfurther education facilities. This will ensure that uniformstandards of qualification are achieved across the entirecoastal region. The Maritime Competence Centre ma-co, acooperative venture between the Port of Hamburg Centrefor Advanced Education (Fortbildungszentrum HafenHamburg, FZH), the Bremer Hafenfachschule and theHHLA Kaifachschule, commenced operation on 1 January2008. Modular course structures allow a number ofdifferent routes towards achieving qualifications, such ascargo handling specialist, or the Port Competence Pass.Also on offer are training courses leading to skilled tradequalifications. In addition to theoretical instruction, workpractice in the relevant seaport operations is a centralcomponent of the programme. The qualification offensiveaims to recruit 75 per cent of long-term unemployed, ofwhom 75 per cent are up to 27 years of age.
