Altamira, Biruta, Cenoza, Wieża Róż, and
many others. And his daughter Pepita (out
of Pepesza by Eukalyptus), *2005 in Janow
Podlaski, was sold to Saudi Arabia at the
“Pride of Poland” auction in 2015 for a record
sum of 1.4 million euros! In total, Ekstern
delivered around 20 broodmares for
Michalow, six for Janow Podlaski and three
for Bialka (as of 2014). Taking the auction
results as a benchmark, the Ekstern children
from Janow Podlaski achieved the highest
results. Jerzy Bialobok attributed Ekstern's
success in Janow to the fact that he is less
related to the mares there than in Michalow.
Four of his sons should also be mentioned:
On the one hand, there was the hopeful
Esparto (out of Ekspozycja) *2002, who, as
a junior, became Polish National Reserve
Champion. He was then leased to Sheikh
Ammar in Ajman for the 2007-2008 seasons
but his breeding use was limited. Back in
Poland, he was used in particular in Bialka,
where he left the most successful mare
from this stud, Perfinka (out of Perfirka)
*2011, who became silver junior champion
at the World Championships in 2013. Esparto
himself was also able to gain some show
successes, when he became European Silver
Champion and was among the TOP TEN at
the World Championships in Paris 2012. But
above all he convinced with his offspring
in Bialka and so he was traded as Ekstern's
successor. But things turned out differently
- in 2014, Esparto was leased to the Ismer
stud farm, where he died in the clinic after
months of battling severe laminitis. Another
Ekstern son, the stallion Polon (out of Pianosa)
*2005 was sold to Halsdon Arabians; Prado
(out of Petla) *2005, is set up as a stallion
in Janow Podlaski and the young Falset (out
of Flaminia) *2018, bred by Michalow, will
be tried out in Bialka this year.
Success for generations
But, of course, Ekstern's influence spans
already several generations, especially through
his wonderful daughters. In this regard,
Michałów pulled off a special coup at
the 1st Al Khalediah European Arabian Horse
Festival 2014 in Nowe Wrońska: At that
time, Michałów won all four gold medals –
and thus all four main prizes, each a white
Mercedes. All four winners were the products
of Ekstern daughters: Pustynia Kahila (Kahil
Al Shaqab / Pustynna Malwa (by Ekstern)),
who became World Yearling Champion in
Paris a few months later; Morion (Kahil Al
Shaqab / Mesalina (by Ekstern)), who later
became World Yearling Silver Champion;
Equator (QR Marc / Ekliptyka (by Ekstern)),
who won the silver medal in Paris; and the
senior champion mare Wilda (Gazal Al Shaqab
/ Wilga (by Ekstern)), who made it into
the top ten in Paris.
Ekstern's offspring from private breeders
should also be briefly mentioned. Due to
the two leases to Jadem Arabians, Christine
Jamar naturally had most of the Ekstern
children. And Christine Jamar's plan worked:

Ekstern gave her excellent broodmares, such
as Magnificent Lady J, the dam of Mounira
J (by Emerald J) * (including European Yearling
Champion 2014, Gold Champion at the
KAAHC Championship 2015), and Mississippi
J ( by QR Marc) *2011 (including Top Ten in
Paris 2013, Silver European Junior Champion
2014, Belgian Senior National Champion
2016); or Gomera J (out of Georgia) *2004, the
dam of Gallardo J (by Emerald J) *2013 (including
2016 European, Nations Cup & Menton
Gold Champion Colt; 2015 World Bronze
Champion Colt and Dubai Gold Champion).
With Ekstern, Georgia also produced the stallion
Gilly J (2008 Belgium Nationals: Reserve
Champion), who is now at stud at Vineyard
Arabians in Slovenia and is a visual credit to
his sire. The international champion mares
and full sisters Psyche Victoria and Psyche
Kreuza (Ekstern / Pallas-Atena) bred by the
Poszepczyńskis, Chrcynno Palace Stud in Poland
should also be mentioned here.

However, these are by no means all Ekstern
offspring that have had a lasting influence
on the breed, but it would go too far to
list all the impressive show successes of Ekstern
offspring here. Until the mid-2010s,
the Ekstern offspring from the Polish State
Studs dominated the show ring like only the
offspring of his sire Monogramm had done
before. They had set a (new) standard with
their charisma, their type and their movements,
and yet, they still have enough
calibre.
With Ekstern, one of the last true "Polish" sires
has passed away, even if purists do not
consider the Russian (via Monogram) and
Egyptian (via Palas) part of his pedigree
to be "pure Polish". He did not come from
"modern show blood" and was nevertheless
highly successful in the show ring - and his
influence on breeding continues even after
generations.
