Courses without a qualification
Skills for Jobs
A weekly workshop that will equip you with the skills to search online for jobs, create a CV and use email. You may also
get your skills accredited and gain an ITQ1 unit certificate or NCFE Award in Making Progress.
Computerised accounts, introduction to Sage
This course will introduce you to the Computerised Accounts Package Sage Line 50 v12. It will prepare you to enrol on
the Sage Pitmans level 1 accredited course. You will gain an in-house certificate listing your achievements.
Photoshop with digital images
Using Photoshop CS2 you will learn how to alter, improve and repair digital images. From this course you may progress
onto photography courses. You will gain an in-house certificate listing your achievements.
Computers, introduction to
Start at the very beginning. Switch on, start up, learn effective use of the mouse and keyboard, carry out basic word
processing, access the internet and print and save work. You will gain an in-house certificate listing your achievements.
Computers, improve your skills
For some this course will be a continuation from ‘Computers, introduction to’. Build your confidence and learn additional
word and internet skills as well as how to email. You will gain an in-house certificate listing your achievements.
Online Media
This course will increase your knowledge of online shopping and banking. It will introduce you to social media sites such
as Facebook and teach you more advanced email functions.
Be creative
If you have a creative skill (dressmaking, cake decoration, floristry etc) or have considered developing such skills as a
career option or self employment opportunity, you may want to consider one of our many creative skills courses – see
pages 16-22 and 28-31.
Assertiveness
Develop confidence in your ability to deal with day to day situations positively and without conflict. Good skills to build in
relation to job interviews and establishing relationships in new job situations.
Community and neighbourhood learning
As part of Oldham Co-operative Council we are committed to working with the Neighbourhood and District Partnerships
to provide learning opportunities for local people. We want to make our courses as responsive as possible to changing
social and economic needs and aspirations. We can offer flexible provision tailored to meet the requirements of different
groups and individuals.
We will work in close collaboration with the voluntary and community sector and key local agencies such as the
National Careers Service, Libraries and housing associations, to build strong links with the local community and identify
opportunities for partnership work which will make a real difference to people’s lives. Community learning can make a
significant contribution to developing stronger communities and more confident, pro-active citizens.
