Skills for Jobs<br />

A weekly workshop that will equip you with the skills to search <strong>on</strong>line for jobs, create a CV and use email. You may also<br />

get your skills accredited and gain an ITQ1 unit certificate or NCFE Award in Making Progress.<br />

Computerised accounts, introducti<strong>on</strong> to Sage<br />

This course will introduce you to the Computerised Accounts Package Sage Line 50 v12. It will prepare you to enrol <strong>on</strong><br />

the Sage Pitmans level 1 accredited course. You will gain an in-house certificate listing your achievements.<br />

Photoshop with digital images<br />

Using Photoshop CS2 you will learn how to alter, improve and repair digital images. From this course you may progress<br />

<strong>on</strong>to photography courses. You will gain an in-house certificate listing your achievements.<br />

Computers, introducti<strong>on</strong> to<br />

Start at the very beginning. Switch <strong>on</strong>, start up, learn effective use of the mouse and keyboard, carry out basic word<br />

processing, access the internet and print and save work. You will gain an in-house certificate listing your achievements.<br />

Computers, improve your skills<br />

For some this course will be a c<strong>on</strong>tinuati<strong>on</strong> from ‘Computers, introducti<strong>on</strong> to’. Build your c<strong>on</strong>fidence and learn additi<strong>on</strong>al<br />

word and internet skills as well as how to email. You will gain an in-house certificate listing your achievements.<br />

Online Media<br />

This course will increase your knowledge of <strong>on</strong>line shopping and banking. It will introduce you to social media sites such<br />

as Facebook and teach you more advanced email functi<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

Be creative<br />

If you have a creative skill (dressmaking, cake decorati<strong>on</strong>, floristry etc) or have c<strong>on</strong>sidered developing such skills as a<br />

career opti<strong>on</strong> or self employment opportunity, you may want to c<strong>on</strong>sider <strong>on</strong>e of our many creative skills courses – see<br />

pages 16-22 and 28-31.<br />

Assertiveness<br />

Develop c<strong>on</strong>fidence in your ability to deal with day to day situati<strong>on</strong>s positively and without c<strong>on</strong>flict. Good skills to build in<br />

relati<strong>on</strong> to job interviews and establishing relati<strong>on</strong>ships in new job situati<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

Community and neighbourhood learning<br />

As part of <strong>Oldham</strong> Co-operative <strong>Council</strong> we are committed to working with the Neighbourhood and District Partnerships<br />

to provide learning opportunities for local people. We want to make our courses as resp<strong>on</strong>sive as possible to changing<br />

social and ec<strong>on</strong>omic needs and aspirati<strong>on</strong>s. We can offer flexible provisi<strong>on</strong> tailored to meet the requirements of different<br />

groups and individuals.<br />

We will work in close collaborati<strong>on</strong> with the voluntary and community sector and key local agencies such as the<br />

Nati<strong>on</strong>al Careers Service, Libraries and housing associati<strong>on</strong>s, to build str<strong>on</strong>g links with the local community and identify<br />

opportunities for partnership work which will make a real difference to people’s lives. Community learning can make a<br />

significant c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong> to developing str<strong>on</strong>ger communities and more c<strong>on</strong>fident, pro-active citizens.<br />
