Careers advice<br />

For help with your career plans, you can talk to advisers from the Nati<strong>on</strong>al Careers Service at<br />

They can help with the process of job applicati<strong>on</strong>s, such as preparing your CV (curriculum vitae). Staff from Nati<strong>on</strong>al<br />

Careers Service will be present at all our general Advice and Guidance sessi<strong>on</strong>s and will be available to provide careers<br />

advice <strong>on</strong> an <strong>on</strong>going basis <strong>on</strong>ce you are <strong>on</strong> your course.<br />

Discreti<strong>on</strong>ary Learner Support Fund<br />

If you have difficulty paying for the costs of course fees, books, materials, travel or childcare you may apply for funding<br />

from the Discreti<strong>on</strong>ary Learner Support Fund. Please ask for further informati<strong>on</strong> and an applicati<strong>on</strong> form at enrolment or at<br />

any of our centres.<br />

<strong>Learning</strong> Support<br />

We are committed to inclusive learning and welcome all learners at <strong>Oldham</strong> Lifel<strong>on</strong>g <strong>Learning</strong> Service. Our skilled and<br />

experienced <strong>Learning</strong> Support team enable learners to access our full range of provisi<strong>on</strong>.<br />

The <strong>Learning</strong> Support department has a wide range of adaptive technology and equipment to use in all of our Lifel<strong>on</strong>g<br />

<strong>Learning</strong> centres.<br />

<strong>Learning</strong> support includes:<br />

• Alternative formats for course material and informati<strong>on</strong> e.g. large print<br />

• In-class support for learners whose first language is not English<br />

• Help with study skills<br />

• Individual support in the classroom<br />

<strong>Learning</strong> support can be provided for:<br />

• Hearing impairment<br />

• Visual Impairment<br />

• Dyslexia<br />

• Mental health issues<br />

• Physical disability<br />

• Other learning difficulties<br />

• Any other individual support needs<br />

Please talk to us before enrolling <strong>on</strong>to your course if you feel you might need additi<strong>on</strong>al learner support. This will help us<br />

to make sure any equipment or staffing is in place for the beginning of your course.<br />

If you want to bring your own support worker or pers<strong>on</strong>al assistant you must c<strong>on</strong>tact the <strong>Learning</strong> Support Team before<br />

enrolling so they can check that all health and safety issues have been addressed before you start your course.<br />
