Craig Hutt<strong>on</strong> -<br />
Photography Learner<br />
Craig Hutt<strong>on</strong> came to <strong>Oldham</strong> Lifel<strong>on</strong>g <strong>Learning</strong> to<br />
gain new photography skills in which he has had a<br />
l<strong>on</strong>gstanding interest.<br />
He enrolled <strong>on</strong> City & Guilds Photography Level 1 and<br />
was hooked. He not <strong>on</strong>ly completed and achieved<br />
Level 1, he then went <strong>on</strong> to complete Level 2. His work<br />
is of such a high standard he was selected from many<br />
learners who had sent in photos for the fr<strong>on</strong>t cover of the<br />
2011-12 <str<strong>on</strong>g>Focus</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> Lifel<strong>on</strong>g <strong>Learning</strong>.<br />
Craig also undertook an assignment in his own time to<br />
track the progress of the refurbishment of the Failsworth<br />
Town Hall and Lifel<strong>on</strong>g <strong>Learning</strong> Centre during last year.<br />
His work was shown to the Leader of the <strong>Council</strong> and<br />
other dignitaries at the official opening of the building.<br />
Craig is now self-employed in photography. He has set<br />
up his own business <strong>on</strong> the internet and has taken many<br />
commissi<strong>on</strong>s for work, the latest being a prestigious rock<br />
c<strong>on</strong>cert.<br />
Craig says: “It’s amazing, I never thought I would ever<br />
have my own web site (GI Photography) and could earn<br />
a living doing something I really love. Lifel<strong>on</strong>g <strong>Learning</strong><br />
rocks!”<br />
Wider Family <strong>Learning</strong><br />
Wider Family <strong>Learning</strong> courses provide opportunities<br />
for mums, dads, grandparents and carers to rediscover<br />
how much fun they can have with their children. Families<br />
can learn new skills and develop strategies and ideas for<br />
playing and working together in a creative and focused<br />
way.<br />
Bite-size learning fun days and events<br />
These events and activities are held during school holidays<br />
and weekends at various venues e.g. libraries, Children’s<br />
centres and Lifel<strong>on</strong>g <strong>Learning</strong> centres. Come al<strong>on</strong>g and<br />
have some fun as a family and try:<br />
• Robot and rocket making<br />
• Under 5s activities<br />
• Pamper sessi<strong>on</strong>s<br />
• Digital photography and computers<br />
• Family safety<br />
• Healthy eating<br />
• Themed activities<br />
Craig has c<strong>on</strong>tinued his involvement with Lifel<strong>on</strong>g<br />
<strong>Learning</strong> through attending a photography community<br />
group in <strong>on</strong>e of our centres (see details of community<br />
groups <strong>on</strong> pages 65 to 70 of this brochure).<br />

Mina Ahmed, former photography learner w<strong>on</strong> the City<br />
and Guilds medal for excellence and was runner up for<br />
FE sector learner of the year Li<strong>on</strong> Award.<br />
