C<strong>on</strong>cessi<strong>on</strong>ary status<br />
Learners entitled to a c<strong>on</strong>cessi<strong>on</strong>ary rate do not pay any<br />
fees for qualificati<strong>on</strong> courses that are funded by the Skills<br />
Funding Agency. If you are in receipt of a benefit, proof<br />
of this must be shown when you enrol for your course.<br />
Please bring original documents as we are unable to<br />
accept photocopies.<br />
All our courses are for adults aged 19 years and over.<br />
Circumstances that qualify for a c<strong>on</strong>cessi<strong>on</strong>ary rate <strong>on</strong><br />
qualificati<strong>on</strong> courses with codes beginning with letter V.<br />
You are:<br />
• in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance<br />
• in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance<br />
(work-related activity <strong>on</strong>ly)<br />
• studying a Maths or English (Skills for Life) course<br />
• aged 19-23 <strong>on</strong> 31st August 2012 and studying at<br />
Entry Level, Level 1 or 2 course (not ESOL) without<br />
having already obtained a Full level 2.<br />
• aged 19-23 <strong>on</strong> 31st August 2012 and studying your<br />
first Full Level 2 (Full level 2 equates to GCSE level<br />
A- C)<br />
• aged 19-24 <strong>on</strong> 31st August 2012 and studying your<br />
first Full level 3<br />
You will also be entitled to the c<strong>on</strong>cessi<strong>on</strong>ary rate if you<br />
are unemployed, you want to enter employment and will<br />
benefit from skills training to do so and you are in receipt of<br />
<strong>on</strong>e of the following benefits.<br />
• Housing Benefit or <strong>Council</strong> Tax Benefit (excluding<br />
Single Pers<strong>on</strong> Discount)<br />
• Income Support<br />
• Working Tax Credit with a household income of less<br />
than £15,860 (Child Tax Credit is not eligible)<br />
• Pensi<strong>on</strong> Guarantee Credit<br />
(Saving Credit <strong>on</strong>ly is not eligible).<br />
• Asylum seeker in receipt of Asylum Support<br />
assistance and have permissi<strong>on</strong> to work<br />
To claim this c<strong>on</strong>cessi<strong>on</strong> you must sign a declarati<strong>on</strong> form<br />
c<strong>on</strong>firming that you want to enter employment as well as<br />
bringing proof of the income based benefit<br />
If you have difficulty paying the course fees and are <strong>on</strong> a<br />
low income you can apply to the Discreti<strong>on</strong>ary Learner<br />
Support Fund for financial support when you enrol.<br />
Learners entitled to a c<strong>on</strong>cessi<strong>on</strong>ary rate for n<strong>on</strong>qualificati<strong>on</strong><br />
courses that are funded by the Skills Funding<br />
Agency pay a reduced fee.<br />
Circumstances that qualify for a c<strong>on</strong>cessi<strong>on</strong>ary rate <strong>on</strong><br />
courses with codes beginning with the letter C.<br />
You are in receipt of:<br />
• Housing Benefit or <strong>Council</strong> Tax Benefit (excluding<br />
Single Pers<strong>on</strong> Discount)<br />
• Income Support<br />
• Job Seekers Allowance<br />
• Working Tax Credit with a household income of less<br />
than the designated threshold (£15,860 per annum).<br />
Child Tax Credit is not eligible<br />
• Pensi<strong>on</strong> Guarantee Credit (Saving Credit <strong>on</strong>ly is not<br />
eligible).<br />
• Employment and Support Allowance (work related<br />
<strong>on</strong>ly)<br />
• Asylum seeker in receipt of Asylum Support<br />
assistance.<br />
Specialist courses/workshops<br />
and small groups<br />
Specialist courses are offered at a higher hourly rate.<br />
There is a partial c<strong>on</strong>cessi<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> these courses for people<br />
in receipt of the benefits shown above.<br />
We also run some cost recovery courses. These are set at<br />
a competitive rate but have no c<strong>on</strong>cessi<strong>on</strong>s.<br />
Refunds<br />
We <strong>on</strong>ly give a refund if your class closes or if you give<br />
advance notice before the course start date that you will<br />
not be taking up your place <strong>on</strong> a course.<br />
Other requests for refunds will <strong>on</strong>ly be c<strong>on</strong>sidered in<br />
excepti<strong>on</strong>al circumstances. There is more informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong><br />

fees.<br />
Although we will do our best to provide our courses and<br />
services as published, we may need to alter, postp<strong>on</strong>e or<br />
cancel courses or services or any aspects of them without<br />
incurring liability. We make every effort to find a suitable<br />
alternative for you should this happen. For example, a<br />
course may close or merge because we have not enrolled<br />
enough learners.<br />
Please note: Although we always do our best<br />
to provide our courses, facilities and services as<br />
agreed, we may need to alter, postp<strong>on</strong>e or cancel<br />
the services or any aspects of them without incurring<br />
liability if circumstances arise bey<strong>on</strong>d our c<strong>on</strong>trol.<br />
