Tues 7-9pm Some prior study of French is necessary, up<br />

to lower tier GCSE level (equivalent to grades<br />

D-G). New members with such experience<br />

are welcome.<br />

Thur 12.45-2.45pm This is an intermediate level group who meet<br />

to learn Italian whilst learning more about the<br />

culture and customs of Italy. It is friendly and<br />

relaxed with an emphasis <strong>on</strong> c<strong>on</strong>versati<strong>on</strong> in<br />

Italian. New members are welcome.<br />

Thur 7-9pm This is an intermediate level group which<br />

meets to learn Italian and talk about various<br />

aspects of Italian culture and life. It is a<br />

friendly group with an informal atmosphere.<br />

New members are welcome.<br />

Wed 7.30-9pm Weekly meetings, indoors during autumn, winter and<br />

early spring, outdoors during late spring and summer.<br />

Indoor meetings are usually discussi<strong>on</strong> groups. Topics<br />

include wild flowers, birds, geology and reporting<br />

sightings of unusual plants, birds, insects, wild life, etc.<br />

Microscopes available by arrangement. Occasi<strong>on</strong>al<br />

visiting speakers. New members welcome.<br />

Tues 7.30-8.30pm An informal group, open to all woodwind<br />

instrument players. Currently we have<br />

flutes and clarinets <strong>on</strong>ly but all are<br />

welcome.<br />

Thur 7.30-10 pm The Society was formed in 1958 and is<br />

the <strong>on</strong>ly society in Saddleworth performing<br />

a varied annual programme of a show/<br />

operetta in October, a Christmas charity<br />

c<strong>on</strong>cert in December and a choral c<strong>on</strong>cert<br />

in May, all with full orchestra. We are<br />

looking to recruit singers and other helpers.<br />

Shaw Centre Dressmaking Group Tues 12.45-2.45pm All kinds of dressmaking from beginners to<br />

more advanced. New members welcome.<br />
