Information, advice and guidance sessions 2012/2013
Drop in to one of our sessions where you will be able to:
• discuss which courses you would like to do and what you want to achieve with teaching staff.
• meet a member of the Learner Support Team and talk in confidence if you think you might need additional
support to complete your studies. They will ensure that any equipment or staffing you need is in place at the start
of your course.
• meet the Childcare team who can advise on childcare provision. See page 9 for time and location of crèches.
• meet representatives from National Careers Service who give careers guidance.
• undertake a skills check if this is required for your course.
• enrol on to a course which meets your needs.
All sessions are held at Oldham Library and Lifelong Learning Centre, Cultural Quarter, Greaves Street, Oldham OL1 1AL
on the following dates:
• Wednesday 8 August, 4 - 7pm,
• Saturday 11 August, 10am - 2pm
• Thursday 6 September, 4 - 7pm
• Saturday 8 September, 10am - 2pm
Skills check or interview sessions
For some of our courses, particularly those with a qualification, you will need to meet a tutor for a skills check or interview
before enrolling onto your course. This helps us to ensure that you are on the right level and type of course for your
experience and current qualifications. It also introduces you to the way the Service works and the support and facilities
we offer.
Please ring the contact number given in the list of courses to make an appointment.
Enrolment
Once you have decided you would like to enrol onto a course,
• If the course requires a pre-enrolment interview or skills check (indicated in the course list by “I”)
Please telephone the contact number given in each section of the course lists. An appointment will then be
arranged for you.
• If the course does not require an interview or skills check but you would like some further information come to one
of our advice and guidance sessions listed above or telephone the contact number given in each section of the
course lists. If you choose to attend an advice and guidance session to talk to a member of staff please allow an
hour of your time for this purpose.
• If neither of the above applies, then just call into one of our centres and enrol. You must pay the course fee when
you enrol. Details of costs are given on each page and information on fees and charges is on page 71.
Telephone enrolment
• You can enrol for some courses by telephone.
• These are courses that do not need a pre-enrolment interview or skills check.
• Telephone any of our centres and have your credit or debit card ready, along with the details of the course you
wish to enrol onto and your own personal contact details.
• You must pay the full course fee by credit or debit card when you enrol. Course fees are set out in the list of
courses and further information on fees and charges is on page 71.
• We cannot accept telephone enrolments for concessionary course fees as we need to see proof of your
entitlement when you enrol. Further information on concessionary fees is on page 72.
