Supporting teaching and learning in schools Level 2 certificate<br />
This qualificati<strong>on</strong> will enable the learner to develop the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and<br />
learning in the school envir<strong>on</strong>ment. It is suitable for learners working or volunteering in roles that support pupils’ learning<br />
including teaching assistants, learning support assistants and special needs assistants.<br />
You need to be working or volunteering in a school envir<strong>on</strong>ment for a minimum 10 hours per week. You need to have six<br />
m<strong>on</strong>ths experience of volunteering or working in a school setting. You will also need a Level 2 literacy qualificati<strong>on</strong> (GCSE<br />
A-C or equivalent) and a Level 1 numeracy qualificati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
Interested candidates will need to complete an applicati<strong>on</strong> form and will be interviewed before being offered a place <strong>on</strong><br />
the course.<br />

Food Safety for Health and Social Care, Early Years and Childcare<br />
Settings Level 2 award<br />
This course will develop the knowledge needed when working with food in health and social care and early years and<br />
childcare settings. You do not need access to the workplace; this is a knowledge <strong>on</strong>ly unit. There are no examinati<strong>on</strong>s to<br />
take; you will produce a file of evidence.<br />

This qualificati<strong>on</strong> is suitable for learners wishing to progress to level 3 but who are not yet employed. The course will<br />
provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge needed to work directly with children and young people in<br />
school envir<strong>on</strong>ments.<br />
You need a level 2 literacy and numeracy qualificati<strong>on</strong> (GCSE A-C or equivalent).<br />
It is recommended that you are volunteering in a school or have some previous experience.<br />

Supporting teaching and learning in schools Level 3 certificate<br />
This qualificati<strong>on</strong> will provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly<br />
with children and young people in a school envir<strong>on</strong>ment. You need to be currently employed as a teaching assistant<br />
or learning support assistant in a school with 18 m<strong>on</strong>ths experience. You will also need to have completed a level 2<br />
qualificati<strong>on</strong> in Supporting Teaching and <strong>Learning</strong> in Schools or be able to dem<strong>on</strong>strate c<strong>on</strong>siderable experience of<br />
working in a classroom setting. You need to possess level 2 literacy and level 2 numeracy qualificati<strong>on</strong>s. (GCSE grade C<br />
or above). Assessments will also be carried out within your school envir<strong>on</strong>ment.<br />
Interested candidates will need to complete an applicati<strong>on</strong> form and attend an interview before being offered a place <strong>on</strong><br />
the course.<br />
