Welcome to our centres<br />

You will be welcomed to our centres by staff who will help you to choose your course, give<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> support facilities and work with you to enable you to reach your goals. Courses are<br />

also taught in schools and community centres across the whole of <strong>Oldham</strong>. Please note that although<br />

we work to provide fully accessible learning, there may be some locati<strong>on</strong>s in a school or community<br />

centre where access is limited.<br />

Crèches are available at four of our main centres and many community locati<strong>on</strong>s to support daytime<br />

courses (subject to minimum numbers). Crèche charges are shown <strong>on</strong> page 9. Charges do not apply<br />

to Family <strong>Learning</strong> courses.<br />

Coldhurst – Refurbished and extended to a high standard, Coldhurst has an IT suite and a large hall<br />

in additi<strong>on</strong> to light and airy classrooms. There is a small private car park.<br />

Failsworth – The Lifel<strong>on</strong>g <strong>Learning</strong> Service is now based in the newly renovated Failsworth Town<br />

Hall. This building has been upgraded and extended to a high standard with bright modern rooms<br />

and facilities whilst still retaining many of the original features such as stained glass windows and<br />

period ceilings. The Library is also based in this building which gives learners easy access to books<br />

and research facilities. In additi<strong>on</strong> to classrooms and community space, there is also a large functi<strong>on</strong><br />

room which is available for hire.<br />

Oakbank – The majority of our cookery courses are delivered in our professi<strong>on</strong>al standard kitchen at<br />

Oakbank. There is a large, well equipped arts and crafts room and an IT suite al<strong>on</strong>gside the roomy<br />

classrooms. There is a small refreshment area and limited car parking available.<br />

<strong>Oldham</strong> Library & Lifel<strong>on</strong>g <strong>Learning</strong> Centre – Sharing a recepti<strong>on</strong> area with Gallery <strong>Oldham</strong> and<br />

<strong>Oldham</strong> Library, this exciting Centre has superb facilities including IT suites, wet and dry craft rooms,<br />

a photography dark room and a well equipped crèche. Disabled parking is available in fr<strong>on</strong>t of the<br />

Centre – please teleph<strong>on</strong>e to arrange access. Public/pay and display parking is available:<br />

• Adjacent to the Centre <strong>on</strong> the Southgate Street side<br />

• Hobs<strong>on</strong> Street multi-storey car park<br />

• Uni<strong>on</strong> Street parking spaces<br />

• Spindles multi-storey car park<br />

• Ten cycle racks are available <strong>on</strong> Greaves Street adjacent to the building, four <strong>on</strong> Southgate<br />

Street in fr<strong>on</strong>t of the Gallery <strong>Oldham</strong><br />

Pottery Centre – (Entrance – Firth Street) Pottery and ceramics courses take place in the Pottery<br />

Centre adjacent to the Lyceum Building, <strong>Oldham</strong> Centre.<br />

Saddleworth – Lee Street. Set in the heart of the community of Uppermill, this centre also deals with<br />

enquiries for Lifel<strong>on</strong>g <strong>Learning</strong> classes at Saddleworth School. Please c<strong>on</strong>tact this Centre before 3pm<br />

for enquiries.<br />

Shaw – A true community centre built <strong>on</strong> the old Town Hall site and located in the heart of Shaw. An<br />

IT suite and a large hall complement the classrooms.<br />

Turf Lane, Chaddert<strong>on</strong> – This busy centre includes a large hall, light and modern classrooms and an<br />

art room. The majority of the First Aid courses and many Childcare/Teaching Assistants courses are<br />

held here. There is a small refreshment area and a ‘drop-in’ book exchange.<br />

Werneth Park – Set in Werneth Park this historic listed building c<strong>on</strong>tains an IT suite, a large hall and<br />

spacious classrooms. There is a snack bar for drinks. A lift gives access to the first floor. The centre is<br />

just off the main route to Manchester.<br />
