Family Learning
Family Learning offers a range of free courses for
mums, dads, grandparents, carers and children.
Courses are held at times to meet parents’/carers’
needs. A free crèche is available at many venues.
Some courses focus on families learning together,
while others are for parents/carers only, with the
emphasis on supporting the family.
Courses take place in over 30 venues across Oldham,
including local schools, Lifelong Learning Centres,
Children’s Centres and community venues.
We work in partnership with your child’s school/
nursery/children’s centre to offer exciting learning
opportunities for the whole family.
Family programmes
The courses below provide opportunities for:
• Mums, dads, grandparents, carers and children to
learn together.
• Children to receive additional support in the subject.
• Mums, dads, grandparents, and carers to find out
how to support their children’s development in the
subject and new methods taught in school.
• Mums, dads, grandparents and carers to gain a
national qualification in English, Maths and Language.
• Meeting other families and sharing ideas.

EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)
A course to help you find out about the EYFS framework
and how best to support your child through it. For parents/
carers and children aged 0 – 5 years. Find out how to
develop your child’s communication skills; how your child
learns through play; help you and your child be ready for
nursery/school; activities to share at home and learning
opportunities for yourself.
Keeping up with the children
For mums, dads, grandparents and carers to find out
how children are taught in schools and be able to support
homework. Provides opportunities to brush up on your
skills and gain a national qualification.

A new and exciting course for parents/Carers.

We work in partnership with Oldham Libraries, Bookstart,
Booktrust and The Oldham Evening Chronicle to offer a
variety of exciting opportunities to support families reading
together.

The Cultural Quarter, Greaves Street,
Oldham, OL1 1AL
Family Learning works in partnership with: primary, secondary schools and academies, voluntary organisations,
libraries, sports organisations, local charities, local businesses, theatres, Distinct Partnerships, OPAG, Children’s
Centres, Oldham Coliseum, Barnardos, NLDC and Museums, parks and galleries.
Courses run throughout the week, at weekends and during school holidays. Enrolment sessions will be held in
schools, children’s centres and community venues throughout the year.
