Statistics and Emerging Trends 2006<br />

Plans are now under way for OTA’s 2006 All Things <strong>Organic</strong> Conference and Trade Show, slated<br />

for May 6-9, once again at McCormick Place in Chicago.<br />

18.1.8 BioFach America<br />

In September 2005, BioFach America in Washington D.C. attracted around 24’000 visitors and<br />

180 exhibitors from 17 countries. Based upon <strong>the</strong> positive market developments, Nürnberg<br />

Global Fairs, who organizes <strong>the</strong> toge<strong>the</strong>r with New Hope Natural Media - A Division <strong>of</strong> Penton<br />

Media Inc.,, expects even more interest in 2006.<br />

The Spirit <strong>of</strong> <strong>Organic</strong> Awards, an annual event held in conjunction with BioFach America,<br />

honored <strong>the</strong> next generation <strong>of</strong> <strong>organic</strong> leaders for. A special recognition for leadership was<br />

given to Scott Silverman <strong>of</strong> Jungle products, Inc. O<strong>the</strong>r honorees included Matt McLean <strong>of</strong><br />

Uncle Matt‘s <strong>Organic</strong>, Wende Elliott <strong>of</strong> Wholesome Harvest, Victor Ananias from Bugday, and<br />

Frederick Schilling, Dagoba <strong>Organic</strong> Chocolate.<br />

BioFach America will change location to Baltimore, Maryland in 2006, reflecting buyer preferences<br />

and attendee needs. The show, set for October 4-7, 2006, will switch from a Thursday–Sunday<br />

format to a Wednesday–Saturday format.<br />
