Adam’s Birthday: Christian holy day. According to John Lightfoot, Cambridge University<br />

Vice-Chancellor, and James Ussher, an Anglican Bishop of Ireland, October 23, 4004 B.C.E.,<br />

at 9:00 a.m., forty-fifth meridian time, was the time and date of the birth of Adam. Many Christians still<br />

reject evolution because of these calculation made by important Christian officials in 1642.<br />

The day of Amurdad celebrates the Av. Ameretat, the Immortality or Life, who presides over plants.<br />

Special prayers from the Khorda Avesta are recited in honor of the day’s spiritual being.<br />

Activity for the day from the Counsels of Adhurbadh, Son of Mahraspand: “(125) On the day of<br />

Amurdad plant shrubs and trees.” Adarbad Mahraspandan was a famous saint, high priest, and prime<br />

minister of Shapur II (309-379 C.E.).<br />

The first seven days (first week) of each Zoroastrian month celebrate Ahura Mazda and the Amesha<br />

Spentas (literally translated Beneficent Immortals). They are the highest spiritual beings created by<br />

Ahura Mazda.<br />
