The day of Khwarshed celebrates the Av. Hvar Khshaeta, The Shining Sun. Special prayers from the<br />

Khorda Avesta are recited in honor of the day’s spiritual being.<br />

Activity for the day from the Counsels of Adhurbadh, Son of Mahraspand: “(129) On the day of<br />

Khwarshed (the Sun) take your children to the grammar-school so that they may become literate and<br />

wise.” Adarbad Mahraspandan was a famous saint, high priest, and prime minister of Shapur II<br />

(309-379 C.E.).<br />
