English name: Madras pea pumpkin.
Local name: Sindhi- Bellari, Chirtati, Urdu- Agumak, Punjabi-
Gawala, Kakri.
Description:
A climbing, scandent or prostrate, annual stiff hairy herb with tendrils, scabrous,
much branched. Flowers minute, yellow and unisexual, male and female flowers are
on same plant. Fruit berry, rounded, bright red when ripe.
Flowering Period:
August toApril.
Habitat:
Common in partly shady and moist places.
Uses:
The root is chewed to relieve toothache; squeezed plant is
applied to treat scabies of animals. The seeds are
febrifuges. The fruit has poisonous, laxative and
vermifuge properties, leaves are used for different skin
diseases.

Pakistan, India, China, Malaya,Africa andAustralia.
