Local name: Vinjal.
Description:
Atufted, perennial, 15-35 cm high, rhizome short, with tillers and short stolons roots,
dense, rigid covering with short hairs, pale or yellowish basal sheaths. Inflorescence
cluster of spikes, sometimes reduced to single cluster.
Flowering Period:
March to May.
Habitat:
Xerophytic. Grows in silt and stony sand in deserts and
semi-desert areas.
Distribution:
Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
