D. WHEEL CENTRE<br />
There are two types of wheel centres namely solid, in which the wheel tread is<br />
integral with the wheel centre, and tyred, in which a separate tyre is shrunk on to the<br />
centre. Tyred wheels are again sub-divided into two types. Disc type, which is<br />
currently in use, and spoke type, which is rapidly becoming obsolete.<br />
E. TYRE PROFILE<br />
Presently Indian <strong>Railway</strong>s using the wheels having optimised wheel profile<br />
known as Worn Wheel profile as per RDSO Drg. No. WD-88021 (for BG wagons)<br />
and Drg No SK-91122 (for MG wagons) . All wheels are being turned as per these<br />
drawings. For Intermediate worn wheel profiles RDSO Drg. No. WD-89060/S-2 shall<br />
be followed. Worn Wheel profile and Intermediate worn wheel profile are given on<br />
next page.
