Detailed instruction on the procedure of manual metal arc welding of<br />
Manganese steel liners to the lugs of axle box is given in RDSO Technical<br />
Pamphlet No. WT-77-1 Appendix (VI).<br />
f) SPRING<br />
The spring is designed to give reverse chamber at full gross load and is<br />
made to the following dimensions:-<br />
i) Length between Eye centre when straight = 1200 + 3 mm<br />
ii) Width of plate = 120 + 0.6 mm<br />
iii) Thickness of plate = 16 + 0.32 mm<br />
- 0.24 m<br />
iv) Size of Eye = 36 (+ 1 mm –0)<br />
v) Free camber = 47 (+ 6 mm –0)<br />
vi) Estimated camber at tare = 35 mm<br />
vii) Estimated camber under gross = - 4 mm<br />
viii) Deflection per ton = 5.58 mm<br />
The Buckle should be heat shrunk with 875 + 25 0 C and at 50.8 Tonnes<br />
pressure. The maximum variation permitted in the camber of two springs on a<br />
bogie truck is 12 mm.<br />
g) HORN CHEEK ASSEMBLY<br />
The axle box horn cheek assembly of Box type wagon have ‘L’ type<br />
lugs on the axle box. The horn cheek assembly consists of the following<br />
parts:-<br />
