Attention :- Electrodes must be kept dry after the original packet/carton<br />
has been opened and those which have been subjected to drying treatment .<br />
Electrodes, which are as of the flux covering broken away or damaged<br />
shall be discarded.<br />
Precautions must be taken by the welder to maintain the low moisture<br />
content. He must protect the electrode from exposure to rain humidity<br />
and other possible moisture pick-up.<br />
where the high humidity exists, the welder shall obtain from the drying<br />
oven, the amount of electrodes in accordance with his rate of usage<br />
for a period of two hours.<br />
The detrimental effect primarily in causing porosity and or causing in<br />
the weld metal and heat effected zone (under bead cracking).<br />
Inspection<br />
Repairs<br />
i). All welds shall be visually inspected.<br />
ii) Any cracks porosity blowhole shall be repaired.<br />
Weld repairs shall be made to either Manganese liners welds by<br />
first removing defective area by grinding to reach sound metal and re<br />
welding in accordance with procedure detailed above.<br />
