Wheel sets are provided with narrow jaw adapter, cartridge roller<br />

bearing (WD-89025-S/1 for wheel sets).<br />

CASNUB 22W (Retrofitted)<br />

Bogies are provided with modified wide jaw adapters but these are not<br />

interchangeable with CASNUB 22W and CASNUB 22WM.<br />

The wear limits are given in Table 6.1.<br />

d) SIDE FRAMES WITH FRICTION PLATES<br />

Side frame column has been provided with 10 mm thickness Silico<br />

Manganese Steel wear liners to IS: 3885 Pt.-I Gr. IV welded on the columns.<br />

It must be ensured that the liners permitted in service up to a thickness of 6<br />

mm only.<br />

The new friction plate is to be held tight against the column face<br />

during welding which should be done in down hand position. Start welding at<br />

diagonal ends of the plate and work towards the centre. No paint or grease<br />

should be applied on the friction plate.<br />

The side frame should be checked for its wheelbase (distance between<br />

centre lines of the jaw openings) and ensure whether the correct button<br />

marking is left on the side frame. While pairing the side frame for a bogie, it<br />

should be ensure that there should not be any difference between the numbers<br />

of buttons on the two-side frames.<br />

The wear limits are given in Table 6.1.<br />

e) BOLSTER WITH WEAR LINERS<br />

Bolster pocket has been provided with 8 mm thick silico manganese<br />

Steel liners welded with pocket slope. The liners may be permitted in service<br />

upto a thickness of 3 mm. The welded liners should be chipped off to prepare<br />

the surface for welding new liners. No paint or grease should be applied on the<br />

plate.<br />

Some bogie bolsters such as those of CASNUB 22NLB &22HS bogies<br />

have been provided with 5mm thick wear liners on land surfaces & same are<br />

to be required to be replaced after 3mm wear.<br />
