nus. The gastropod genera Polyodonte Fi-
scher, 1807, and Polyodonta Megerle, 1811,
are unrelated to Trochoidea where Cossmann
placed the subfamily. The name appears
to be descriptive [multi-toothed
aperture] as opposed to Monodontinae [sin-
gle-toothed aperture].
