Solitary or gregarious (1-5 fruit bodies) on bare soil under
deciduous or coniferous trees in gardens and hedges, but not in
rings on seaside meadows as P. Bernardii. Rare. June-September.
Falster: Kragelyngen near Skørringegård ; Nykøbing: Vester
skov; hedge row near the cattle show grounds; Nørre Skoles Skole
have ; Prinsholm in garden (Taxus). - Lolland: Krenkerup Park
(under Ttuxu«, L i n d h a r d H a n s e n) ; Lindelse near Nakskov
(under Picea, C. H. Westergaard).
P . ingrata is nearly allied to OT perhaps identical with the P .
al godor a briefly deseribed in Swedish ad interim (i. e. without La
tin diagnosis) by Ln g e l s t r om & Rydberg in 1940 (Ingel
s t r om, Svampflora, p. 105). According to R y d b e r g the latter
is not rare in Sweden; it seems to be a little larger and to have a
more fibrillose capo Further it is stated to smell of seaweed and the
flesh finally becomes greyish pink in the whole fungus. The latter
two characters have not been observed in P . ingr at a.
II. TUE SILVATICA GROUP
Medium-sized, often slender species. Pileus brown scaly or brown
fibrillose. Gills often narrow, flesh colour or bright pink. Gill edge
sterile, light. Ring sheathed above. Flesh frequently turning a deep
red. Smell acidulous. Cystidia on gill edge balloon-shaped to broadly
clavate. Spores ellipsoid. Schåffer reaction negative. In woods.
N o t e. Some darkscaled species of the Xanthoderma group resemble
strikingly Psalliota silvatica. However, they are more related to the
Arvensis group (Flavescentes ) .
