3. Psalliota aestivalis sp. n.<br />

D i a g n o s i s. Pileus 5-10 cm, convexus, in medio saepe planus,<br />

nitidus, albus, tactu leviter sulphureo-tinctus, levis, denique saepe<br />

leviter fibri11oso-squamulosus, ad marginem demum dilute cinereo­<br />

incarnatus. Lame11ae liberae, confertae, t enues , subangustae, primo<br />

roseo-car neae, denique fuseae, acie fertili. Stipes 4-9 cm X 15-30<br />

mm, cylindricus vel sursum attenuatus, e fareto fistulosus, albus,<br />

tactu dilute sulphureus, apice saepe roseo, dein canescente, omnino<br />

ser iceo-nit ens, adpresse fibrillosus. Annulus superus, albus, tenuis,<br />

fragilis, evanidus, simplex vel int er dum t enuiter duplicatus, parte<br />

inferiore marginem versus radiatim fissa. Caro tenuior, alba, fraeta<br />

in stipite paulum erubescens, odore debili.<br />

Sporae acervatim fuseae, ovoideae, granulatae, 6-8 X 4-4.5<br />

(-5) p. Basidia 4-sterigmatica, elavata, 20-28 X 7-9 p. Sterig­<br />

mata 3 p longa. Cystidia nu11a.<br />

Gregatim, in silvis coniferis Daniae. Aestate.<br />

A P. arvensi annulo debili et lamellis laete carneis differt. Ob<br />

formam stipitis et habitationem in silvis a P. campestri facile<br />

dignoscitur.<br />

D e s c r i p ti o n. P i l e u s 5-10 cm, convex, often with flat centre,<br />

shining, white, with sulphureous tinge ( HSulphur Ye11ow") when<br />

touched, with delicate, adpressed silky fibrils, with age showing in pla­<br />

ces small, adpressed scales, and after rain tinged with a slightly grey­<br />

ish flesh colour ("Vinaceous-Buff") along the margin. G i Il s free,<br />

crowded, thin, rather narrow, bright rosy flesh colour ("Vinaceous<br />

Pink"), at length dark brown. Edge fertile. S t e m 4-9 cm X<br />

15-30 mm, cylindrical or attenuated upwards, pithy at first, soon<br />

narrowly hollow, white, becoming yellow like the cap when touched,<br />

often rosy ("Light Congo Pink") at the apex, but at length turning<br />

grey, silky all over, adpressedly minutely fibrillose. R i n g very<br />

shortly sheathed above, white, thin, and fragile, fugacious, simple,<br />

but often with thin squamules on the underside near the edge, formed<br />

by radial cracking of a thin lower layer. F l e s h rather thin, white,<br />

light rose-coloured ("PaIe Vinaceous Pink"J in the upper part of<br />

the stem. Smell weak. Schaffer reaction negative. Spore<br />

p o w d e r dark brown ("Mummy Brown"; L. g 8 ; S. 701).<br />
