Because the concrete breakout area <strong>for</strong> the plate is much larger than that of the anchor bolt,<br />

the ratio of the plate breakout area to the anchor bolt breakout area will include the increase in<br />

breakout strength <strong>for</strong> the plate due to the larger breakout area. There will be an increase in<br />

strength because it will take more <strong>for</strong>ce to cause a breakout on a larger volume of concrete.<br />
