that cases involving agreements will drastically increase.<br />
Table 5 below shows the trend in cases handled<br />
by the Commission since 1998. The Commission’s<br />
case load from 1998 to 2010 was a total of 1 996<br />

cases, of which 923 cases (or 46.24 per cent of the<br />
total cases) involved unfair trading practices. 386<br />
cases (19.34 per cent) involved restrictive business<br />
practices, while 331 (16.58 per cent) were mergers<br />
and acquisitions, and 235 (11.77 per cent) involved<br />
relocation of plant and equipment. The rest<br />
of the cases, as also indicated in Graph 1 above,<br />
were negligible and their numbers have been declining<br />
over the years.<br />
