Culm Height<br />

Omjamena forest site recorded significantly taller culms (6.50) m compared to the other sites <strong>and</strong> was followed<br />

by Eltogola forest site which recorded a significantly taller culms (5.48) m than the rest of the sites. However,<br />

Bonjae <strong>and</strong> Caw forest sites showed no significant difference between them recoding (4.34) <strong>and</strong> (4.43) m<br />

respectively. Generally, Alfaras forest site produced significantly shorter culms (3.16) m compared to the rest<br />

of the studied sites.<br />

Culm diameter<br />

The biggest culm diameter (2.5 ) cm was recorded in Omjamena forest site while the smallest culm diameter<br />

was produced by the Kokaya forest site (1.06) cm with significant differences between them. Bonjae forest site<br />

ranked second to omjamena forest site <strong>and</strong> it recorded (1.97) cm which was significantly different from the<br />

remainder of sites with the exception of Eltogola forest site (1.71) cm. However, the rest of the sites showed no<br />

significant differences between them in culm diameter.<br />

Number of Culms<br />

Bonjae <strong>and</strong> omjamena forest sites produced significantly bigger number of culms (92) <strong>and</strong> (81) respectively <strong>and</strong><br />

were not significantly different from each other. These were followed by Caw forest site (60) with no significant<br />

difference with Omjamena but significantly different compared to Bonjae. The remainder of the sites did not<br />

show significant differences between them in the number of culms including Caw forest site as shown in Table<br />

Table (2) shows the approximate areas of the forests sites where the bamboos inventory was conducted. The<br />

total area of the eight forest sites amounts approximately 42109 ha. The density of bamboo clumps ranged from<br />
