The cooling water is circulated by a centrifugal<br />
type pump mounted on the front end of the<br />
cylinder block and driven by a Vee belt from<br />
the engine crankshaft. Provision is made for<br />
fitting a fan on the front of the water pump pulley.<br />
Tbe pump does not require greasing as the<br />
I,earings are treated with a special grease before<br />
assembly. .<br />

When re-assembling to cylinder block a new<br />
joint should be used to cnsure that a watertight<br />
joint is made.<br />
To Dismande Water Pump.<br />
Remove split pin from slotted nut securing<br />
water pump pulley, and remove nut and washer.<br />

To Remoye and Refit Water Pump.<br />
Slacken dynamo securing screws and remove<br />
fan belt.<br />
Remove fan.<br />
Unscrew nuts securing water pump to cylinder<br />
block and remove water pump.<br />
To refit pump to cylinder block is a reversal of<br />
the above procedure.<br />
Remove water pump pulley.<br />
Remove impeller from shaft.<br />

Remove front bearing retaining<br />
circlip using long<br />
nose pliers for the purpose.<br />
Remove rear seal.<br />
Using a suitable press,<br />
press the shaft out of the<br />
~ body from the impeller end<br />
.~ leaving tbe thrower loose<br />
in the body. These can now<br />
be removed from the body.<br />
Remove the front seal and<br />

tlanges. The two bearings<br />
and distance piece will still<br />
be on the water pump shaft.<br />
These can be removed by<br />
means of a suitable press.<br />
Inspection.<br />
Ir the water pump drive<br />
shaft shows signs of wear<br />
in the region of the bearings,<br />
the shaft must be<br />
renewed, as a wam shaft in<br />
this region wilt allow the<br />
inner race of the bearing to<br />
rotate on the shaft.<br />
Clean impeller and check for cracks and broken<br />
blades.<br />
Examine casing for cracks.<br />
Wash hearings in thin lubricating oil and examine<br />
for pitting, corrosion or wear. Ir necessary renew<br />
hearings.<br />
To Re-Assemble Water Pump.<br />
1. Press rear hearing on to shaft, fit hearing
