Differs from H. bellatria! (<strong>the</strong> type <strong>of</strong> which is an abnormality) in <strong>the</strong><br />

presence <strong>of</strong> three (instead <strong>of</strong> <strong>on</strong>ej red streaks parallel to tlle inner<br />

margin <strong>of</strong> primaries, <strong>the</strong> postmedian testaceous band c<strong>on</strong>verted into<br />

three or four spots forlniug a tapering series towards costa, <strong>the</strong> red<br />

costal streak c<strong>on</strong>tinued nearly to apex, <strong>the</strong> red markings <strong>of</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>daries<br />

inore c<strong>on</strong>tracted, <strong>the</strong> later81 metallic green spots <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> abdomen<br />

larger : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 52 to 67 millims.<br />

4. 11. COLOMBIX, n. sp.<br />

Primaries as in H. bellatrk, excepting that <strong>the</strong> postmedian band is<br />

yellower and twice as broad ; sec<strong>on</strong>daries <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> red spot smnller<br />

nnd separated from <strong>the</strong> interno-median red patch, almost as in H.<br />

cepheus, <strong>the</strong> creamy abdominal patch smaller : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 68<br />

millims.<br />

** Abdomen <strong>with</strong>out a basal cream-coloured band.<br />

5. H. AMAZOSICA, n. sp.<br />

Allied to <strong>the</strong> preceding, hiit <strong>the</strong> postmedian band more oblique and<br />

slightly narrwer, <strong>the</strong> spot at end <strong>of</strong> cell smaller, <strong>the</strong> red streaks <strong>on</strong><br />

costal and internal areoles more slender and less distinct, <strong>the</strong> red spot<br />

<strong>of</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>daries narrower and distinctly trifid ; no red streak <strong>on</strong> interno-<br />

median area, and no internal crenmy streak ; <strong>the</strong> pterygodes entirely<br />

black ; <strong>the</strong> abdomen <strong>with</strong>out a cream-coloured band : expanse <strong>of</strong><br />

wings 59 to 72 millims.<br />

Allied to H. proserpina, but <strong>the</strong> primaries <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> €I. bellatrix<br />

6. H. INFERIORIS, n. sp.<br />

primaries as in H. amaz<strong>on</strong>ica, excepting that <strong>the</strong> creamy spot in <strong>the</strong> cell<br />

is larger ; sec<strong>on</strong>daries <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> scarlet streak reduced to two or three<br />

little spots, as in H. proserpina : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 63 to 66 millinis.<br />

Lower Amaz<strong>on</strong>s (<strong>Wallace</strong>). Type, B.M.<br />

Perhaps a variety <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> preceding, but certainly intermediate<br />

in character between it and H. proserpina.<br />
