Body black, a minute dot behind each eye, and a dot <strong>on</strong> each side <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> collar steel-blue ; a l<strong>on</strong>gitudinal blue spot at bnck <strong>of</strong> thorax, third<br />

to fifth segments <strong>of</strong> abdomen <strong>with</strong> small lateral marginal metallic<br />

green dots : wings brown, <strong>with</strong> an el<strong>on</strong>gated and gradually widening<br />

central hyaline-white patch from near base to just bey<strong>on</strong>d end <strong>of</strong><br />

cell ; nervures black ; pectus spotted <strong>with</strong> metallic green : expanse <strong>of</strong><br />

wings 33 millims.<br />

Espiritu Santo (Higgins). Type, B.M.<br />

Allied ta E. intricata, but darker, <strong>with</strong> smaller hyaline area in<br />

primaries.<br />

3. E. CATABTIBINA, n. sp.<br />

Very like E. intricata above, excepting that <strong>the</strong> hyaline area <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

wings is c<strong>on</strong>siderably 'smaller ; below, however, <strong>the</strong> wings are white<br />

<strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> veins brown and <strong>the</strong> hyaline patches an above : expanse <strong>of</strong><br />

wings 32 millims.<br />

Brazil (Bates). Type, B.M.<br />

Mr. Walker placed this very distinct species <strong>with</strong> his type <strong>of</strong><br />

E. intricata.<br />

4. E. TENUIS. n. 8p.<br />

Very similar in shape to E. angusta. Body black, two dots at back <strong>of</strong><br />

collar, <strong>the</strong> thorax, pterygodes, and a clot at base <strong>of</strong> primaries red ; me-<br />

tallic blue and green dots above, as in E. angusta : wings as in E. in-<br />

tricata, hyaline, <strong>with</strong> a broad brown border and black veins : body<br />

below black, tibise <strong>of</strong> anterior pair <strong>of</strong> legs spotted in fr<strong>on</strong>t <strong>with</strong> metal-<br />

lic green : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 35 millims.<br />

Espiritu Smto (Higgins). Type, B.M.<br />

Genus THEIXAOIA, n. gen.<br />

Allied to <strong>the</strong> preceding genus, but smaller; neurati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> primaries<br />

nearly <strong>the</strong> same, but <strong>the</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>d median branch emitted fur<strong>the</strong>r<br />

from <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> cell; sec<strong>on</strong>daries <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> first median<br />

branch forked at its extremity, as in Empyreuma <strong>of</strong> secti<strong>on</strong> n.<br />
