Allied to E. HorsJeldiii, from which it chiefly differs as follows :-Sec<strong>on</strong>d<br />
pale band <strong>of</strong> abdomen scarlet above instead <strong>of</strong> buff; primaries <strong>with</strong><br />
hasal lialf <strong>of</strong> wing golden yellow, red at base, not impinged up<strong>on</strong> by<br />
black projecti<strong>on</strong>s from <strong>the</strong> suhcostal or snbmedian nervures ; post-<br />
median qundrifid band or spot narrower and golden yellow ; sec<strong>on</strong>da-<br />
ries golden yellow, <strong>with</strong> a broader apical black border ; abdominal<br />
margin not throwing out a hlack projecti<strong>on</strong> to end <strong>of</strong> cell, as in E.<br />
Horsjeldii, base reddish instead <strong>of</strong> whitish : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 44 to<br />
52 niillims.<br />

This species is entirely distinct froin 3. ~~zndugnscarie~tsis.<br />
8. E. CELEBPXSIS, n. Sl).<br />
Allied to E. polymena, but digering as follows :-reddish instead <strong>of</strong> white<br />
spots <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> shoulder *; basal band <strong>of</strong> abdomen cream-coloured above<br />
instead <strong>of</strong> scarlet, blue hands <strong>of</strong> abdomen becoming snow-white at <strong>the</strong><br />
sides, <strong>the</strong> double scarlet band broadly margined <strong>with</strong> white <strong>on</strong> both<br />
sides below ; primaries <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> subbasal ochreous spot widely sepa-<br />
rated from <strong>the</strong> central band, and <strong>the</strong> large subapical ochreous patch<br />
narrower and divided in thc centre by n black line : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings<br />
49 millims.<br />

<strong>with</strong> scarlet instead <strong>of</strong> blne : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 47 millims.<br />

Allied to E. polymeaa, but. <strong>the</strong> spots <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> shoulders reddish, <strong>the</strong> blue<br />
hands obsolescent, <strong>the</strong> fourth, fifth, and sixth segments <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> abdo-<br />
men entirely scarlet, and <strong>the</strong> serenth segment edged behind <strong>with</strong><br />
scarlet : expanse rf wings 47 millims.<br />
