Head black, a metallic-blue spot <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> crest ; antennae brown, tawny<br />
at <strong>the</strong> base; collar black, <strong>with</strong> a blue spot <strong>on</strong> each side ; thorax black,<br />
an orange spot <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> shoultlers; metathorax <strong>with</strong> a large bilobed<br />
yellow spot in <strong>the</strong> centre ; abdomen shining. blackish piceous ; Im;il<br />
segment <strong>with</strong> two anterior central yellow spots, and a yellow spot <strong>on</strong><br />
each side : wings testareous byaline ; apex <strong>of</strong> primaries broadly black,<br />
outer margin narrowly black, projecting inwards al<strong>on</strong>g submediaii<br />
nervure ; inner margin narrowly bliwk, costal margin very narrowly<br />
black; costal and internal areoles orange, also <strong>the</strong> median nervnre aid<br />
its sec<strong>on</strong>d and third branches ; sec<strong>on</strong>daries <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> apical third <strong>of</strong><br />
costal margin and <strong>the</strong> outer and abdominal margins narrowly black ;<br />
costal areole ochreous : body below black; thorax spotted <strong>with</strong> blue :<br />
first two segments <strong>of</strong> abdomen laterally spotted <strong>with</strong> white, next two<br />
segments <strong>with</strong> blue ; legs black, <strong>with</strong> deep yellow tarsi : expanse <strong>of</strong><br />
wings 40 millima.<br />

Allied to E. machilis, wings <strong>the</strong> same, excepting that <strong>the</strong> narrow blnck<br />
margin and <strong>the</strong> hlack spot near anal angle <strong>of</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>daries are better<br />
defined ; body quite tlifferent : head lilac above ; face white, <strong>with</strong> n<br />
central lilac spot ; antennae tawny ; collar and pterygodes black <strong>with</strong><br />
a yellow margin; thorax black-brown <strong>with</strong> a central pale yellow line<br />
terminating behind in a spot <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> same colour, two blue spots 011<br />
ei<strong>the</strong>r side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> central line ; prothorax <strong>with</strong> two additi<strong>on</strong>al slender<br />
diverging yellow lines ; metathorux black, <strong>with</strong> a yellowish spot iii<br />
<strong>the</strong> middle and <strong>on</strong>e <strong>on</strong> each side ; two basal segments <strong>of</strong> abdomen<br />
yellow internally, tawny across <strong>the</strong> middle, and black externally ; re-<br />
maining segments black, sec<strong>on</strong>d to fifth segment <strong>with</strong> lateral lilac<br />
streak ; palpi, pectus. outer margin <strong>of</strong> first ventral segment, sec<strong>on</strong>d<br />
segment and fr<strong>on</strong>t <strong>of</strong> third segment rream-coloured; a lateral<br />
line <strong>on</strong> palpi, <strong>the</strong> legs, basal segment, and sides <strong>of</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>d seg-<br />
ment orange ochreous; u line <strong>on</strong> upper surface <strong>of</strong> femora, <strong>on</strong> tho<br />
last pair <strong>of</strong> tilm, <strong>on</strong> all <strong>the</strong> tarsi, a spot at proximal end <strong>of</strong> tibiae, <strong>the</strong><br />
outer half <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> third and <strong>the</strong> whole <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> remaining segments <strong>of</strong><br />
venter black ; a spot <strong>on</strong> upper surface <strong>of</strong> distal end <strong>of</strong> froiit tibiae, a<br />
spot <strong>on</strong> each side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> metatborax, and a series <strong>of</strong> liturae <strong>on</strong> each<br />
side <strong>of</strong> lust segments <strong>of</strong> venter lilac : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 40 millime.<br />
