Genus SPHECOSOMA, n. gen.<br />

Abrochia (part), Hmich-Schiiier.<br />

This is, I believe, <strong>the</strong> Abrochia <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ' Corresp<strong>on</strong>denz-Blatt,'<br />

but not <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ' hussereuropaische Ychmetterlinge ;' it closely<br />

resembles Pmdmphex, but differs from it in <strong>the</strong> simple Euchro-<br />

mioid neurati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>daries. Type, S. fasciolata, n. sp.<br />

1. SPHECOSOMA FABCIOLATUY, n. spa<br />

Body sulphur-yellow ; fr<strong>on</strong>s white, <strong>with</strong> a central grey spot ; a transverxe<br />

line or crest and ano<strong>the</strong>r at back <strong>of</strong> head black ; antennse <strong>with</strong><br />

basal half blackish, apical half orange, apex blackish; palpi golden<br />

yellow ; collar <strong>with</strong> a black band hehind ; pterygodes margined <strong>with</strong><br />

black ; thorax <strong>with</strong> a black central l<strong>on</strong>gitudinnl line and a streak <strong>on</strong><br />

each side <strong>of</strong> it close to <strong>the</strong> pterygodes, a transverse line at back <strong>of</strong><br />

thorax and <strong>the</strong> inner edges <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> glandular drums black j all <strong>the</strong> segments<br />

banded <strong>with</strong> black, first segment <strong>with</strong> three l<strong>on</strong>gitudinal black<br />

lines ; wings whitish hyaline, veins and outer margin slenderly black;<br />

costal and interno-basal areoles <strong>of</strong> primaries orange ; body below<br />

pale sulphur-yellow; legs orange, femora and tibiae <strong>with</strong> a black<br />

streak above ; abdomen <strong>with</strong> an apparently pale cream-coloured waxlike<br />

sheath over basal segments, edged behind <strong>with</strong> black : expanse<br />

<strong>of</strong> wings 25 niillims.<br />

Allied to <strong>the</strong> preceding genus, but larger, <strong>the</strong> outer margin <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> primaries much huger, <strong>the</strong> discocellulars forming an oblique<br />

line ; <strong>the</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>daries less than half <strong>the</strong> length <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> primaries,<br />

<strong>the</strong> abdomen very slightly c<strong>on</strong>tracted at <strong>the</strong> base.<br />
