We have two examples <strong>of</strong> this species in <strong>the</strong> collecti<strong>on</strong> ; it is<br />
probably <strong>the</strong> western representative <strong>of</strong> S, cerbera, although (ex-<br />
cepting in <strong>the</strong> banding <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> abdomen) it more nearly resembles<br />
S, c~eusa.<br />
As an instance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> str<strong>on</strong>g sexual instincts <strong>of</strong> this family, it<br />
may be menti<strong>on</strong>ed that <strong>the</strong> type <strong>of</strong> this species was taken iiz<br />
copulii <strong>with</strong> a male <strong>of</strong> Fascia instructn, Walker, which led <strong>the</strong> col-<br />
lector to suppose <strong>the</strong>m to be sexes <strong>of</strong> <strong>on</strong>e speciea ; it is not, how-<br />
ever, at all an uncomm<strong>on</strong> occurrence in this family to find two<br />
Inales coupled toge<strong>the</strong>r.<br />
19. S. FANTASIA, n. sp.<br />
Closely allied to S. cerbera, hut <strong>the</strong> three discal hyalinc spots <strong>of</strong> prima-<br />

toge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong>y form a quadrifid hyaline hand ; <strong>the</strong> central spots also<br />
more divergent, <strong>the</strong> lower <strong>on</strong>e being leng<strong>the</strong>ned at each end and ex-<br />
tending transversely bey<strong>on</strong>d <strong>the</strong> submedian nerrure; basal spot l<strong>on</strong>ger:<br />
expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 36 millims.<br />
Cape <strong>of</strong> Good Hope (Dr?ge). Type, B.M.<br />
Perhaps a curious aberrati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> 8. cerbera, tellding towards <strong>the</strong><br />
8. pcictolina group.<br />
20. S. MOXTANA, n. sp.<br />
Closely allied to S. latreillii, hut <strong>with</strong> all <strong>the</strong> hyaline spots, excepting<br />
<strong>the</strong> two nearest to apex <strong>of</strong> primaries, much enlarged, giving it much<br />
<strong>the</strong> appearance <strong>of</strong> S. <strong>the</strong>bbus : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 40 millims.<br />
India (Elliott). Type, B.M.<br />
DiEers from S. <strong>the</strong>lebus and S‘. feinestrata in having <strong>the</strong> subapi-<br />

t.ioii from Bombay.<br />
