Nearly allied to S. lucina, but more bluish in tint, <strong>the</strong> fr<strong>on</strong>s black j collal, orange ; hands <strong>on</strong> addomen and lateral spots orange-yellow ; primaries <strong>with</strong> all <strong>the</strong> hyaline spots ra<strong>the</strong>r larger ; sec<strong>on</strong>daries <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> hyaline spots c<strong>on</strong>nected, nune <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> spots, excepting that <strong>on</strong> ahdominal margin <strong>of</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>daries, tinted <strong>with</strong> yellowish, as in S. Zueina : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 29 millims. Formosa. Type, coll. F. Moore. 1 have named this species after <strong>the</strong> indefatigable collector and entomologist, €1. Edwards, <strong>of</strong> San Francisco. (i. S. FORMOSB, n. sp. Nearly allied to S. annetta from China, but <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> collar orange, <strong>the</strong> two bands <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> abdomen and <strong>the</strong> spots <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> pectus orange instead <strong>of</strong> yellow, all <strong>the</strong> spots <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> primaries smaller, a hyaline spot near apex <strong>of</strong> sec<strong>on</strong>daries uniting <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> hyaline basal area, thus rendering its margin zigzag : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 25 millims. Body greenish black, fr<strong>on</strong>s creamy yellow ; a spot <strong>on</strong> metathorax, a semicircular spot <strong>on</strong> basal segment <strong>of</strong> abdomen, <strong>the</strong> fourth segment above and below, and two large lateral spots <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> pectus golden- yellow : antennae greyish at <strong>the</strong> tips : wings greenish black; prima- ries <strong>with</strong> a small square spot near <strong>the</strong> base, two large divergent spots across <strong>the</strong> middle, a small oval spot just below base <strong>of</strong> subcostal fork, and a bifd spot (cut by <strong>the</strong> third median branch) up<strong>on</strong> disk, hyalinr white; sec<strong>on</strong>daries <strong>with</strong> a large spot (occupying <strong>the</strong> greater part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> wing) <strong>on</strong> abdominal margin hyaline white : expanse <strong>of</strong> wings 23 millims.
