SWITCH.TO (SWT)
The SWITCH.TO; command enables you to transfer directly to another system by using
LINC logic. The other system can be:
$ Another LINC System
$ Another LINC System running PowerClient
$ A non-LINC System in an MCP or OS 2200 environment. For example, an MCP based
CANDE session, or an OS 2200 based 3GL System
$ A default UNIX or MCP based screen; for example, a Logon or Logoff screen
Use this command if you want to perform a certain function outside your current LINC
System without having to go through the procedure of exiting from the LINC System and
signing on to another LINC System or non-LINC System.
Once you have completed your task in the other system, you can then switch back to
where you were, or to a default screen.
The SWITCH.TO; command can be used in MCP and OS 2200 based LINC Systems, and in
UNIX LINC Systems that are using LINC Server mode. See your UNIX LINC
Administration and Operations Guide for details of LINC Server mode for UNIX LINC
Systems.
On OS 2200 based LINC Systems, you can use the INHERIT; command option to pass the
terminal type, language, usercode, and partition (if executed from PowerClient) to the
destination system, if that destination system is a LINC System. On UNIX and MCP based
LINC Systems, you cannot pass these values.
The SWITCH.TO; command is not available in Reports. It sets GLB.ERROR to five asterisks
(*****). The command is ignored in LDA Run Time.

LDA Restrictions and Limitiations
The functionality of the SWITCH.TO; command in LDA differs from host LINC, and has the
following restrictions and limitations:
$ The new Business Segment must reside in the same Repository as the calling Business
Segment.
$ When the SWITCH.TO; command is executed in LDA Run Time, the current LDA
session is closed and a new session is opened for the called Business Segment. This
may take a few seconds, because the .FRM file must be recreated for the called Ispec.
$ STARTUP and CLOSEDOWN Global Logics cannot be invoked automatically in LDA.
