ADAPT00422087 Patch ID: 37703323
Description:
Reports that use a large custom page may be truncated when viewed in Crystal Enterprise (CE).
This problem happens when multiple PPD files are included within CE 10 on a UNIX platform.
The cause of the problem is that CE cannot distinguish reports that use the default PPD (Defptr2.ppd) from a custom PPD file that can
be added after CE is installed. The server is prevented from reading the correct paper size value that is sent from the printer driver.
New Behavior:
This problem is resolved, and custom paper size and width is constrained only by limitations imposed inside the printer driver;
however, users must take the following steps in the Central Management Console to enable this fix:
1) Click Process > Print Setup > Specify printer.
2) In the "Specify a printer" field, set the printer name to the name of the printer recognized by Windows.
3) Clear the option "Print in Crystal Reports format using the selected printer when scheduling," and set the "Set layout to" field to
"Report file default."
4) Open a report and save it.
CE collects the specified printer name and applies it as the default printer driver to both Windows and UNIX systems.
5) Log into CE, and then open the Registry Editor to make the following changes:
- Key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Mainsoft/DriverPrinters/
- Modify the "Data File" value to the name of the PPD as it exists in system/ppd.
Note: To enable this fix, reports published before the printer is added must be re-published.
Known Limitations:
Note the following behaviors introduced by the HotFix:
- The server cycles through each of its known printers if the default printer (defptr2.ppd) cannot be found.
- The max length & max width are specified with the MaxMediaWidth and MaxMediaHeight values in the .ppd file.
- If no printer drivers can be found, the Server tries to use the DISPLAY property (if it is referenced as an environment variable), which
handles larger paper in larger length & width.
