AUTOCLAVING
What is an autoclave?
Autoclaving is the process of steam
disinfection wherein, the waste is exposed to
steam at high pressure and temperature to
decontaminate the infectious waste.
Autoclaves are found in research, diagnostic
and microbiology laboratories, health centers
and other places that require high-level
disinfection. An autoclave consists of a metal
chamber sealed by a charging door and
surrounded by a steam jacket.
