Radio Chico Schweiz ist ein Jugendförderungsprojekt. Im Jahr 2008 hat RadioChico den<br />

Förderpreis des „BärnerJugendTags“ erhalten. Im Jahr danach, 2009, wurde RadioChico Schweiz<br />

für sein Projekt „Reconciliation“ zum UNO-Jahr der Versöhnung von der S.E.R. Stiftung zu den<br />

zwölf Preisgekrönten erwählt.<br />

Das Jugendförderungsprojekt basiert auf einem soliden pädagogischen Konzept. Die jugendlichen<br />

ModeratorInnen unterschreiben einen Ehrenkodex und nehmen an Schulungen teil, die von ehrenamtlich<br />

arbeitenden Experten durchgeführt werden. Mit seinem mobilen Studio geht RadioChico Schweiz für<br />

Schulprojektwochen auch in Schulen überall in der Schweiz.<br />

RadioChico Schweiz sendet nur gute Nachrichten. Dies soll mithelfen, unsere Achtsamkeit auf das<br />

Schöne in der Welt zu lenken, unsere Mitmenschen und uns zu stärken, und so Frieden und Lebensfreude<br />

zu verbreiten.<br />

24. Tracking Reconciliation with a Microphone and Camera in 2010<br />

How RadioChico Schweiz deepened the insights gained in 2009<br />

and created a basis for continuing in 2011 and beyond<br />

During their interviews and surveys in 2009, the young reporters working for RadioChico – most of them<br />

school children – came across interesting statements about reconciliation. One of these statements was:<br />

“You have to jump over your own shadow.” This adage underlines the importance of one’s own behaviour<br />

when trying to deal with reconciliation.<br />

One sunny day, the young radio producers literally tried to jump over their own shadows. It was<br />

impossible! They only managed to stand on their own shadows at midday. However, each of them did<br />

succeed in jumping over someone else’s shadow – the shadow of the Other.<br />

Could it be that it is only possible to fulfil the adage by identifying with the Other – the “enemy” – thus<br />

gaining the ability to jump over the proverbial shadow? In other words, when I’m one with the Other, can’t I<br />

jump over my own shadow and thus enable reconciliation?<br />

Propelled by this insight and moved by the desire to experiment further with the theme of “Reconciliation”<br />

and encounter the “Other” again and again in order to make space for peace, RadioChico Schweiz<br />

developed a number of new activities in the year 2010.<br />

One particular highlight was and remains the encounter with elderly people: during several days young<br />

people came together with the inhabitants of a retired people’s home. They interviewed the senior citizens<br />

and offered them a platform for telling their stories. A CD-Rom with extracts from the discussions was<br />

produced.<br />

We plan to make this networking between the younger and older generation develop further: in<br />

collaboration with the terz Foundation, RadioChico Schweiz will organise additional encounters, like the<br />
