Scotland United Kingdom : Africa in Motion – Filmfestival and Symposium (Nr. 146)<br />

The focus of the film festival in appreciation of the International Reconciliation Year 2009 was on<br />

the subject of « trauma, conflict and reconciliation ». The symposium at the University of<br />

Edingburgh was dedicated to « trauma through conflicts and wars of post-colonial African states,<br />

and the efforts made by reconciliation committees to find truth, justice, reconciliation and<br />

peace ». Representative was Mrs. Stefanie van de Peer.<br />

Switzerland: Choir of the Nations (Nr. 160/163)<br />

The Choir includes 80 members from 27 nations. The goal of the choir is to promote integration<br />

and exchange through the medium of music. Members learn songs from their native countries<br />

and from Switzerland, have common public performances at smaller or larger occasions. On<br />

November 1 st 2009, the concert „Music for Peace“ took place at the onset of the „Week of<br />

Religions.<br />

Representative was Mr. Kurt Walter.<br />

C) Educational/Athletic Projects<br />

Germany: Eighths Aachener Run for Peace (32 – 37)<br />

The motto was „Run for diversity – against violence and racism“. More then 4'200 children and<br />

young people from 37 local schools participated. They wanted to live in a colorful, diverse and<br />

tolerant city such as Aachen in which all people have the same rights and can live without fear.<br />

Representative of the German Embassy in Switzerland was Councellor of embassy Mr. Otto<br />

Schneider.<br />

Switzerland: Future Leaders Forum (Nr. 128)<br />

The Lassalle-Institute, Bad Schönbrunn, Switzerland, promotes zen, a culture of values, the<br />

ethic of which is founded in their holistic approach. It is aimed at leaders in economic, political<br />

and other areas. In 2009 the Future Leaders Forum was looking for answears « What leadership<br />

qualities does mankind of the 21 st century need at a global level? They extended their perception<br />

for psychology as well as the ancient traditions of East and West.<br />

Representative was Mr. Ralf Steigüber, Head of Future Leaders Forum.<br />

Switzerland: RadioChico „Daily on the Way and active on the Subject of Reconciliation<br />

(Nr. 31)<br />

RadioChico, a non-profit-making-internet radio, gives an opportunity to children and young<br />

people to learn everything around broadcasting in mostly mobile studios. With their signing of<br />

the code of Ethics, they undertake to publish constructive news only and to stand by journalistic<br />

principles, such as responsible research, interviews and reports. During 2009 different personal<br />

statements about forgiveness and reconciliation were collected. A selection of these interviews<br />

was produced on a CD-Rom.<br />

Representative was Mrs. Annemarie Koch, Director of RadioChico Schweiz.<br />

D) Spiritual / Health Care Projects<br />

Burundi : The Reconciliation week at Mount Sion Gikungu (Nr. 90)<br />

The Foundation Mariya Arafasha invited five young foreigners from Northern Ireland, Israel,<br />

South Africa and the United States for the Reconciliation-Week at Mount Sion Gikungu in<br />
