59. Joint Advocacy Initiative (JAI) PNA/Palest. Nat. Auth. YMCA - YWCA Journey for Justice Program 2010 Journey for Justice is an annual program that brings together youth from YMCAs and YWCAs all over the world to experience and share the occupation with Palestinian youth. For ten days, they join Palestinian youth and travel around Israel and Palestine to witness the effects of Israeli occupation. The challenging program aims to witness and accompany Palestinian youth in their daily life. Report 2 nd August, 2010 Youth leaders, from various YMCA and YWCA movements in the world came together in a challenging 10-day program. More than 40 youth participants came from the World YWCA, YMCA of Argentina, YWCA of Sri Lanka, YMCA of Sri Lanka, YMCA-YWCA of Sweden, YMCA- YWCA of Denmark, together with the Palestinian YMCA-YWCA JAI youth leaders. 85
The program included: • Stories / experiences / dreams and daily life sharing with Palestinian youth • Home stays with Palestinian host families • Passing through checkpoints together • Witnessing the various EJ YMCA and YWCA of Palestine programs in action and during activities in Bethlehem, Ramallah, Jericho, and Jerusalem. • Building coalitions of YMCA-YWCA committed youth leaders and set advocacy plans together. Daily schedule - reports - reflection and pictures: • 23th July 2010: Arrival. • Day one - 24th July 2010: Icebreaking, introduction, YMCA-YWCA-JAI presentation, fields and farmers' visits, refugee camp tour. • Day two - 25th July 2010: Hebron day: TIPH meeting and presentation, old city tour, glass factor visit. • Day three - 26th July 2010: Jericho day: historic and biblical sites tour, visitpresentation-lunch at YWCA center, swim in the Dead Sea. • Day four - 27th July 2010: Joining OPGAI youth working camp, attending house rebuilding key handing ceremony in Al-Khader. • Day five - 28th July 2010: Visit university and chat with students, meet YWCA GS in Jerusalem, session with Israeli refusals group, meeting Israeli settler, Bethlehem old city and Church of Nativity, movie screening. • Day six - 29th July: crossing checkpoint, the Holy Sepluchre and Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem old city tour, meeting the YMCA GS and briefing about YMCA program in Jerusalem, ICAHD tour. • Day seven - 30th July: Meeting with Badil, meeting and touring withing Ma'an news agency, devotion at the YMCA Shepherds Grotto. • Day eight - 31st July: Ramallah day: meeting Fatah leader, visit Mahmoud Darwish and Arafat' graves, evaluation, future planning and cultural evening, farewell. • 1st of August 2010: Departure. 86
