3. Gillespie, 3rd son, was the Crui ter or Harper. He was the<br />
bard of the Clan-wrote and sang its praises, and his descendant<br />
s were known as the MacCruiters, pronounced Cruder or<br />
Gruder. He was b. in 1375 and became the ancestor of A lexander<br />
( II) Magruder, the Progenitor of the America n Clan<br />
Gregor Society. T he continuation of this line witt fottow<br />

4. Gregor-the 4th son from whom the family of Ruat h, Shruth,<br />
or Roro descend.<br />
5. Dougal MacGregor, last son, catted Coulciar, the Dar k Dou <br />
gal, from whom are descended those catted MacCoulciar. He<br />
is the ancestor of Ciar, the ancestor of Donald MacGregor,<br />
of Glen Gyle, said to have been a Lt. Col. in the service of<br />
Jam es II (1437-1460) . H e m. a dau. of Campbell of Glen<br />
Fattoch, and owned land between Loch Lomond and Loch<br />
Katrine. Their children were :<br />
1. MacGregor, of Glen Gyle.<br />
2. Rob Roy Campbett MacGregor, the celebra ted "H ighland<br />
Rebel", who m. Mary Helen Campbett. He was b.<br />
c. a. 1664, d. 1734, age 70 years . Rob Roy, wife-Mar y<br />
Helen, and their two sons, Cott and Robert, are bur. in a<br />
lot at an old church near Edenchip, only a few miles<br />
from the seat of our H eredita ry Chief Sir Malcolm<br />
MacGr egor.<br />
