vol. # 1 in 1898, vol. #2 in 1901. In her genealogical studies Miss Mac<br />
Greg or quotes the "Baronage" for each succeeding generati on, adds<br />
new material, clarifies, and presents, as far as known, th e authentic<br />
lines of descent of the various branches or H ouses of the MacGr egor<br />
Clan. She furni shes the necessary data to fill in the descent fro m Lord<br />
Malcolm's sons (ge n. X II I), down to include Patrick ( XVIII ) . From<br />
there on down to our present Chief, Burke's P eerage furni shes complete<br />
genealogical detail s to accompany Miss MacGregor's historic al account s.<br />
Gen. X III John MacGr egor , 2nd son of Gr egor ( Aulin), s. in 1420 his bro .,<br />
Malc olm, and lived during the reign of Kin g James I ( 1405-1433),<br />
d. in 1461, in the reign of James III (1460-1488) . He was of that<br />
ilk (formerly of Brackly) , a man of grea t martial spir it, and was<br />
made Lord of MacGregor. Th e Knight of Lochow found means<br />
in thi s Lord' s day to stir the Mc Nabs to insult the MacGregor s,<br />
in consequence of which a party of the latter, the MacG regor s,<br />
fought the Clan in Abba at Chrianlarich, and cut them off almost<br />
to a man. Lochow having on tha t pretense obtained-"Letters of<br />
Fire and Sword," aga inst both Clans, got military force s to assist<br />
him in redressing them. Man y bloody skirmishes were fough t in<br />
conjunction by both, in which many of their enemies were destroye<br />
d, but in the end the Clans lost lands, while the Knight of<br />
Lochow and his fri ends assumed possession th ereof. J ohn rn.<br />
